I can't wait for ransomware to demand in broken English and acrylic that we pay the author in whoppercoins to get our files back.
Fuck I'd love me some BK but I'm broke as fuck right now
So I spent an irrational amount of time trying to find some actual prices for Whoppers in Russia.
The best I can find is a slide on Burger King's Russian website that says (presumably - the image is a graphic so I can't auto-translate it) that the whopper is 49 roubles, which seems a bit low (at about $0.85 USD).
This site lists the whopper at 132 roubles, which is much more believable, seeing as the US average price in roubles is 116.
At 1 coin per rouble spent, using the higher price, that's 132 coins per Whopper. And at 1,700 coins for one Whopper, that translates to a "Buy 13 Get 1 Free" deal.
Doesn't sound super great to me, but if you buy Whoppers regularly then, hey, you're going to be buying them either way. May as well get every 14th one free, right?
If anyone with knowledge on Russian prices for Whoppers can chip in, please feel free to correct me.
It's about $2.5, but our BK is full of promotions and coupons so you can get like two whoppers (or equivalent) + fries + drink for $4
Why does BK only do this stuff in Russia
It feels like the most they've ever done here is had a small conversation over Twitter with McDonalds like "hey do you want to do a promo togeth-" "no" "okay"

BK ads in Russia are pretty controversial most of the time. Here are a few examples:
GO FK URSLF MCDNLDS

Hard to translate because it's a wordplay but basically they say Angriest whopper - try not to shit your pants

I'm pretty sure some people actually tried to sue BK because of how provocative their slogans are but the court ruled them to be in the green because they're not actually using swear words, but rather wordplay letters away from them.

Kind of like that FCUK ad campaign in the UK, back in the 90s, that ruffled quite a few feathers. :v:
