Title sums it up. After about 5 minutes of playing a game, whether that is Starcraft II, Black Ops or World of Warcraft my pc freezes and no longer responds to anything. I can still hear music and game sounds for a short while though.
To try and solve this I've done:
2 Boot scans
1 Quick scan
2 Full-system scans
4 Registry cleanups
1 Cleanup (That CCleaner tool)
1 Clean install of my Video Card drivers
1 DirectX diagnostic
Checked for overheat before freeze using temp software.
I only found 2 trojans which were both removed in the process. Also sometimes it can't detect some of my IDE stuff (which I don't have) and it sometimes says "CD-ROM boot priority - No medium". I'm clueless as to what this is.
My specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz
4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 405MHz (5-5-5-15)
ASRock P45DE (CPUSocket)
512MB GeForce 9800 GT (XFX Pine Group)
244GB Seagate ST3250410AS ATA Device (SATA)
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200S ATA Device
550W PSU
Please tell me you guys know how to solve this.
Check your startup by going to start > run then type msconfig. Check in both the startup and services tab for anything that you don't need and take it out of the startup. One of the startup/services may be conflicting with the games or may be a virus that the scans didn't pick up
Update:
It's fixed. i still dont know what happened. I did system restore, at the end i got a black screen, rebooted my pc and it worked fine. So could a mod remove my thread?
It might actually be overheating, you could try lower the game settings and see if it keeps happening.. thats if the problem arises again
