Indie devs sign with publishers because that makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to get their game out there and, y'know, [I]succeed as a game dev.[/I]
The logistics behind physical distribution are 100% out of reach to most indie studios and, especially when it's just some guy in his spare time, the costs inherent in maintaining a download and storefront are pretty much out of reach. 'Tis why sites like Humble, storefronts like Valve, are absolutely inundated with indie games these days, as they serve the role of publisher and don't really do all that much to command the direction of the games they publish.
PC Gamer must not have anything better to do if they're publishing shit like this.
