So recently my FPS in TF2 have been dying really bad. When I first got the game I was getting 35+ FPS on default settings at 1024 x 768. Yesterday I played just fine and I noticed my FPS started suffering a little. Today I hop on TF2 and my computer is struggling to play. I do just fine in the spawn room on 2fort and get 50 FPS, but when I leave the spawn room and head to the battlements my frame rates drop to 5-15. It's really making me mad and I'm not sure what it could be. I've tried running everything on minimum. Even on 800 x 600 I can't do it!
Specs:
AMD Single core @ 2.6GHz (It's shit. Getting a new CPU soon)
ATI 3100 integrated (Gonna get a dedicated card soon too)
2GBs DDR2 667MHz.
Windows XP SP3
And I think that's all you need to know.
Thanks.
do you have vertical sync on? if so disable it. else it's your specs or drivers
Some of the new maps kill my FPS too...
If you consider a 30FPS drop from 300FPS killing it but meh, try advanced, multiplayer options and switch off all the crap you can in there

It's not my specs, because I was able to run it perfectly before.
I made sure to turn off vertical sync.

If you read the thread you would notice that I've already turned down everything.
Make sure you dont have applications running in the background that could be eating up resources. Check temps using HWMonitor.
Could it be ATI drivers? Or the new TF2 update?

I've got game booster (It's an application that temporarily clears up all unnecessary applications such as printer drivers and Anti-virus so that you can maximize your gaming on lower end PCs). So I've freed up as much memory usage as I could.
My temps seem normal in HW Monitor. My CPU runs at 40C idle, (that's normal for my CPU.) It peaks at 50C under load.
I fixed it guys. Just rolled back my drivers and everything is okay.
Thanks to those who tried to help.
drivers should be the second thing to check/try after temperature and voltage
TF2 has just gotten worse and worse over time. I could run it at 30-40 FPS on high at the game's release and now when I try, it's unplayable.
Blame valve.
If you want more frames per second and prefer performance over quality try Casey's FPS config.
