This is neat and all but could it result in a ban from network play, soft or otherwise?
As far as I'm aware, there's no hard bans, just soft bans. But getting a soft ban means you can't play with anyone but other softbanend players.
The ban system doesn't check game files last I heard, it just checks your stats, inventory and soul memory. If you have key iteams before reaching those points in the game, you'll get flagged for a soft ban. If your stats do not line up with your soul level, or your soul memory does not match up with the server check, you get a soft ban. It only checks save data and not game data
So as far as I can guess, as long as you don't add anything that drops certain items or move key items in the game world, there's no chance of a ban.

Are soft-bans per-character or per-account
I've never really been able to get a clear answer on how these work.

From what I've read I believe it's per character.
