well, my gtx 570 is still able to hold its own, but I am about ready for an upgrade to match my CPU a bit because I do see some struggle in certain games.
i want a GTX 770, i've already figured that out, but was curious if it was worth the wait for the 800 series, since it's i believe a new architecture, and in turn could be worth waiting
i'm unsure on what move to make.
CPU- 3570k
Upgrade CPU, overclock GPU for a few extra frames, wait for 8xx series.
The 8xx series is going to be more focused on efficiency in terms of power consumption. If you don't care about that, get a 770
Upgrade CPU, overclock GPU for a few extra frames, wait for 8xx series.
why the CPU? barely an old socket, that makes no sense
The 8xx series is going to be more focused on efficiency in terms of power consumption. If you don't care about that, get a 770
well like after payday i may get a 770.
Completely unnecessary to upgrade an ivy bridge i5. Go with the 770, it'll do all you need it to well. My card is essentially a 770
Completely unnecessary to upgrade an ivy bridge i5. Go with the 770, it'll do all you need it to well. My card is essentially a 770
that's what I figured.
so the 800 series isn't worth the wait really?
figured a new architecture would be rather big on improvement
As adam said, it's biggest improvement is going to be thermal characteristics. If you're big into GPU overclocking, it may be worth the wait to see what they're capable of. It does appear that they have been delayed to 2015 though
well that's rather disappointing I had high hopes for it.
now that's its delayed I guess a 770 it is. EVGA should do as usual.
i'm not a big person on overclocking at all.
Technically, the new architecture has already been released as the 750Ti, but it's pretty low spec
so probly getting this one

I'd suggest one of these two to save a few bucks.

never had an issue with EVGA products, this 570 has lasted 3 years with no problems, plus i still have a 07 EVGA 680i that my friend is using that still runs my old Q6600.
MSI would be my 2nd choice however.

I read your post wrong, but overclock your CPU if you haven't already, and your GPU. Your card is still good in my opinion, for most games. Just wait for the next series of AMD/Nvidia cards. In my opinion you're wasting your money if you don't do this.
I think you can invest in a 290 instead honestly, its only a bit more expensive

but as said above, they are focusing on power consumption improvements, and is delayed till 2015.
i was originally going to wait, but i'm a bit of a impatient person. i don't see the 800 series being that much better than the 700 from earlier reviews.

No he means the AMD R9 290
No he means the AMD R9 290
shit i'm a moron, and maybe, but ill look into it
not going to lie, I do prefer nVidia cards only because ive used them since the 8600 days..
still so i'm not a fanboy here i will think about it., and not rule it out

290? you mean GTX?
why on earth would i go back a generation
R9 290. It's about 400 dollars and does better than the 770. Power consumption improvements are pretty important, and the 570 is still a good card. Besides, if you don't have the money for a 780 Ti now, why not save up and get the 880? And don't turn down AMD, a lot of the guys here recommend the R9 280 and R9 290 because they're pretty good cards.
ok. so enlight of this

should i just grab this?

I wish I had put up with my 550ti just a little bit longer until the GPU mining bubble collapsed. I can find r9 290's now for less than I got my 680 for
770 is great, but try for an EVGA / 3gb version if you can
I wish I had put up with my 550ti just a little bit longer until the GPU mining bubble collapsed. I can find r9 290's now for less than I got my 680 for
that's why i was so patient to pass the 700 series up, but apparently i won't be.
hell i'm going to AMD i guess because the 770 is performing so much worse than the 290 for only $50 more
If you're okay with used cards, people are practically giving away r9 290's. The only issue is life on the cooler fans, but that wasn't an issue for me since I was putting a block on it.

and i'm unsure on buying used GPUs..
Used GPU's are something I've always been on the fence about. Coolers are my biggest worry, but heavily overclocked cards that have been run hot are another factor. With mining cards, they generally were kept very cool, and often undervolted for maximum lifespan.
I generally go by this for used components:
Yes
RAM: Very little can go wrong, and even then almost every single brand, if not every, has lifetime warranties.
Watercooling fittings and blocks: Once again, very little can go wrong.
Cases: Usually a good bet, but all but high end ones cost way more to ship than they're worth.
Processors: Usually lower end, locked ones are a safe bet.
GPU: For lifetime expectancy, I usually only would go 2 generations back, unless it's a mid-lower end model such as the x50's and below to throw in a cheap system.
Monitors: Often a safe bet, I just worry of excessive dead pixels being the reason for selling.
No
Motherboards: There are many things that can go wrong, many of which won't be apparent under initial testing. Too much of a gamble imo.
HDD: For obvious reasons, there are too many variables with this as well. Warranties are usually short, and someone trying to load off a failing HDD is entirely too common. Plus you don't want to get stuck with someone's CP.
SSD: Due to life cycles and read/write caps, these are usually a bad idea unless you're just looking for a dirt cheap 60gb to throw in a secondary system.
Fans: Fan life is finicky new, I would never trust a used fan, especially since they are relatively cheap.
PSU: Too many unknown variables and the possibility of bad voltages/wiring scares me.
same here, i'm on the fence myself about it, i have to order from Amazon, and in this case the used ones on the market place are only $30 difference without Prime too. So i'd rather pay that and get prime for a new one and 2day shipping.
i'm wary, because im reading how bad AMD drivers are, and i've never used AMD since way back in 06 when they were ATi.
just i feel like i'm going into uncharted territory, and i dislike it, but the performance is rather immpressive over the 770.
i will miss not being on EVGA too, but XFX is just as good. i was there when I had a XFX 9800GTX+..good ol days.
[editline]29th May 2014[/editline]
just being patient and deciding what I really want if i'm going to drop 400.
AMD has ironed out a lot of their driver issues. A few months ago they really turned that around. And I feel you on that, I miss my old Phenom x4 black edition and XFX 9800GTX+ rig. Had an XFX 8600 XXX Core Edition before that too. I was surprised when they started doing AMD cards, then sad when they dropped nvidia.

yeah man, my 9800GTX and my Q6600..pioneers of the quads we were.
that leap from the 6600 to a 3570k was mind blowing.
[editline]29th May 2014[/editline]
i was so sad too, XFX warranties are like EVGAs..just too good.
and their tech support is beyond stunning.
I had an interesting jump of processors. Went from C2D E6320 to Phenom X4 BE to a Sandy Bridge i7 2630QM, back down to a C2Q6600, then back up to an i5 4670k.
If you can find a really cheap used 290 or 290x you could buy it and put a g10 on it for $30. Its what most people do.
E: not the g10, i forgot what liquid cooler people put on gpus. But you get the idea
