I recently got a new computer and I'm looking for a cool way to retire my last. Suggestions? Specs: Pentium 4 2 gbs ram Nvidia 8600 gt 500 gb hard drive
Give it to someone who needs a basic computer for basic shit, maybe ask your family?
If I read correctly you can use a separate GPU to do physX calculations. Maybe you can reuse your 8600gt.
Take it outside and beat the crap out of it whilst saying "You are no longer worthy" and other shit like that. Then burn all of it in a fire.
I'm going to donate it to charity or recycle it I can't find any cool projects.
Run Folding@home and help stop cancer... or some bad biological thing. Just run and forget, you dont even need a monitor, mouse or keyboard. Edit: Also the 8600gt is great for folding.
use it as a 24/7 download pc or set it up as a server for your favourite game
Set up a server.
-barbecue-
oh god. lol
Sell it on Craigslist.
Give it to grandparents or parents?
I'll take the hardrive. I'm in need of a new one.
Make a SNES machine.
Give it to a friend or someone, maybe sell it for 30 quid or whatever. Might as well make some money to go towards a game or whatever you want.
That's not a bad rig OP, you could even run some low-to-mid end games on it. Sell it to some folks who want a cheap PC for their kids to fuck around with or something.
I suggest Folding@Home, cure cancer and shit.
Give me the RAM and graphics card.
That's a decent Gaming PC, hold on to it as a backup.
Casemod. Perhaps build it in a desk drawer so you save ultimate desk space.
Webserver.
donate me the Gcard and the ram... hell and the HDD i need more space :P
Case mod the hell out of it. Or just give it /sell it to someone in your family :buddy:
Sell it, host a server, use it as a backup.

Well he did say it had a P4... Check out the freenas project, it's not quite taking advantage of the full hardware, though it's useful to have around
Use it to run Folding, an IRC client and/or the Ticker.
Turn it into a media PC, for watching movies, listening to music and all that stuff. Also see if you can find one of these cases:
Game Server Home Media Server Build a MAME cabinet One of those is what I'd do.
