It definitely looks and plays like Space Marine. This is a good thing.
This looks really promising.
Ugh, anyoen dissapointed it looks a lot worse than spacemarine and the animation seem to lack the weight as well.
A Warhammer 40k F2P mmo that plays like space marine? Consider myself interested.
Damn, considering they just started this this year, I'm pretty impressed, considering I signed up for beta pretty much the day it came up, and post quite a bit on the forums, you can tell I am hyped for this game :v:
I’m a little disappointed they didn’t reach further into 40K’s roster. Those four are the same choices Relic made when making the original Dawn of War. I’d like to play as Tau or Necrons myself.
Good thing they're being added further down the line then.
I don't think they can pull it off. Wasn't very impressed by the 15 fps floaty combat WIP video either. Bolters in the lore were fucking powerful, but it seems like every 40k game thinks that they shoot .22 caliber bullets at a really fast fire rate.

I can only hope the game gets more impressive later on in development. That footage did not get me excited.
This is an early look, give it the benefit of the doubt.

The bolter in Space Marine sounded really weak and fired way too fast. Hopefully someone mentions it to them on their official forums when they are up and it gets changed it.

If the game is put into beta and it's like that, then sure. Then you tell them.
It looks like a very early version of Space Marine. Definitely a lot of polishing is needed, but I like the concept.
Technically speaking they're magazine-fed selective fire .75 caliber rocket launchers. So yeah, they need to be really beefy. Wouldn't rocket imply that they burn fuel mid-flight?
They do. Basically, it works the same way to a gun we have now, the Gyrojet. The shell leaves leaves the gun and as soon as they exit the barrel, they ignite and shoot into an enemy with a delayed timer that explodes the shell after it's in the body, leading to a lot of gore and missing limbs.

Bolt rounds are dual-propulsion, there's a small initial charge detonated in the shell casing, then once the projectile leaves the barrel a secondary charge contained inside it activates and brings it up to full velocity. Finally a third charge exists in the form of a reactive warhead that causes the round to explode shortly after penetrating flesh; although this last charge isn't a source of propulsion, varies depending on the bolt type and is absent completely from the sub-sonic "stalker" round.
I thought this was cancelled?
I thought this was cancelled?
That was Dark Millennium.
If it can capture the feel of Space Marine, I think it will do fairly well.
I thought this was cancelled?
Dark Millenium was the MMO that was cancelled. Read the article, the first paragraph answers your question. This is a new MMO with a different studio, it will be more like Planetside 2 than a 'normal' MMO.

Dudes, this is pre-pre alpha gameplay footage. They're trying their best to give you something to look at and hold onto during the development cycle. The bolters aren't going to look right. Those muzzle flashes are clearly placeholders. This is just here so you can see, "Hey, there is a game, and they're working on it, and it has spess merns in it." If anything, the fact that they're so involved with their community and so willing to show such early development stuff is a great sign they'll be willing to take feedback. This is the perfect time for you to send in your diagrams and parabolic trajectory calculations that explain how bolters work.
The guy at the computer at :40 isn't even doing work. He's browsing imgur.
zog da beakies, i'll be waitin fer Ork gameplay
