This is getting annoying and i have no clue what is wrong. It only happens on GMOD.
Just a few notes here before i tell you guys what is wrong.
First my set up.
AMD Athlon II Propus (620) quad core
ATI Radeon 4550 1GB (Dx 10 compatible)
4 gigs of ram
Gigabyte mobo
Windows XP sp3
Believe it or not i can run Crysis at 60 fps at all high settings. It drops to the low 30's when there is a lot going on screen.
I can run all source games at max settings and get 100+ fps even when there is a lot going on.
Everything looks fantastic.
Now the part where i'm having issues with GMOD.
It's the shaders. Not all shaders are working. The lense on the bolt gun/crossbow either is black and doesn't reflect a damn thing on most maps or it does work and it's pixelated.
The crowbar doesn't look like it has a damn bit of normal/bump mapping/phong. It's ugly.
The pistol sometimes (also depending on map) doesn't reflect or have bumps on it.
The magnum (also depending on map) doesn't reflect or look shiney
Gordons hands look like crap.
When on 2FORT building things the water looks pitch black until i get close to it.
And what really pisses me off are the shaders on the combines. The combine elites boots aren't shiney at all.
What's going on here? All the stuff i mention looks fine in HL2 Singleplayer and when i play Team Fortress 2 the water and shaders are all fine and it uses the latest Source engine. I can render all shader props such as reflections, glass etc etc. The water in the game even looks fine. The walls on gm_contruct should also have some sort of shiny bumps on them. They don't appear unless i crank up the HDR lighting. How am i supposed to make awesome screenshots when the models look like something i shit this morning?
Is there a way to fix this? Don't tell me it's my graphics card because you will be wrong. Why would it be my card if i can run Crysis at max settings along with any other game you can think of?
I'm so angry right now i refuse to use spell check and proper grammar. I feel like raging.
edit- Just realized i posted this in the wrong area...
1:Dont be angry.
2:Update VGA drivers.
3:Uninstal any addons
4:Reinstal gmod. could also be caused by hl2 or ep1,2 since gmod uses resources from those.
Drivers are up to date.
Uninstall-ed gmod and reinstalled multiple times.
I have noticed that when i do reinstall it that blood effects are from TF2 somehow. Maybe if i uninstall TF2 and reinstall GMOD that would fix it?
