• Google Chrome vs Mozilla Firefox

I've been using Mozilla for a while and I decided to try a new web-browser. I looked at them for a while... obviously not IE, or some of the other crappy browsers but I found a very good one that many of you (or mostly all of you know about) Google Chrome. Heres how I'd rate it.. Speed ---------- Overall both browsers are exceptionally fast... beating any of the competition without a doubt. In many speed tests going to different websites, and looking at other speed tests on YouTube I've come to the fact that Google Chrome is in fact significantly faster than Mozilla Firefox... not saying that Mozilla isn't fast either. If you don't believe it check it out for yourself. Source: Cnet(http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-10030888-92.html) I did do a javascript speed search-up since most websites are filled with javascript things. Infact Google Chrome can load pages almost as fast as your internet connection can allow you to. Reliability ------------ Again overall both browsers are reliable... and they are fairly matched in this category. Google Chrome has never once crashed on me.Even though I've received a few crashes from Firefox... there have not been a significant amount. Most have been due to Vista being stupid... Both browsers are very reliable. Safety ----------- Its obvious that I have to give Mozilla this one. Its safety is unmatched with its post-download virus scanning to its dangerous website detection service, and ad-blocking. Plus with its safety add-ons Mozilla is the safest browser out there. Google Chrome is very safe too. Even though it may not scan for viruses after download it can detect dangerous websites before entry just as Mozilla can. Ease of Use --------------- Right when you run both browsers for the first time it is obvious that they look very simply, and very easy to use, but they are both powerful at heart. Both browsers are easy to use for browsing, but Google Chrome has a much simpler yet equally powerful UI. Diversity -------------- Mozilla is much more diverse in terms of add-ons than Google Chrome. It no doubt beats it in this category. But as soon as Google makes Chrome more than just a little old beta browser it will probably be soon competing Mozilla in this category. Memory Usage ------------------- Most computers(now-a-days) can handle internet browsers without slowing everything else down, but for those people who have older computers.. or netbooks heres the area where you should be interested in... Firefox indeed has a much lighter load on your computer than Google Chrome does. If both browsers are opened with only 1 tab.. I'm pretty sure Google Chrome uses less memory, but the more tabs you open the more memory Google Chrome uses. Firefox does not have this disability, and thats why Firefox gets this one. Privacy ---------- Privacy may be important for some people.. and this is where Google Chrome makes it big.. With its "incognito mode" function Google Chrome can literally hide your from the rest of the internet. It does not store cookies, does not show your IP to the world, and does not store your history... Firefox does not offer any major privacy features although you may be able to find an add-on or two that can help you with that. Overall both browsers are excellent and fairly equally matched. Some prefer Mozilla some prefer Chrome.. I say both are good. Currently I use Google Chrome... idk just my decision (I prefer speed over safety). State your opinions about both browsers here....
I tried Chrome 4 and 57% of the time when I visited a page it would give me some error how the page couldn't be viewed because of x or y error occured. Which is the only reason I went back to Firefox.
Google Chrome is a nice alternative, but Firefox still wins it for me.

Firefox wins for me because of the addons, but I also really like Chrome for the speed and use it as my backup browser.
I have both, but I use Opera
i like the buthurt chrome users rating everyone dumb. also, i use firefox because chrome is missing options.
I'm using SRWare Iron, a derivative of Chromium, which is essentially the same as Google Chrome but with some different features. I prefer it over Firefox simply because I never grew attached to any Firefox addons, and the speed boost is nice.
Chrome is a decent browser, but I like firefox more, because of security and all those nifty addons.
I switched to google chrome when I got tired of firefox breaking in pretty much every way for me.
Firefox because of 100% customization and stuff like adblock, but even that doesnt stop me getting raped by photobuckets spam of flash shit all over their upload page
I require benchmarks. Even tho I know that Chrome is faster on newer platforms.
I like chrome due to its speed and i have yet to have any problems with it, and chrome is still in beta and addons/modules support is already in the dev version (It is being worked on) so firefox is in for some competition if you ask me.
OP sounds like the kinda shite I used to write in High School for English esaays [editline]03:29PM[/editline] Like when you have a rough idea of what you want to say but you pad it out for word count
As soon as chrome was released i loved it. For me it just seemed like it was going ridiculously fast, and every update just seemed to make it faster, sure it lacks the addons and what not but for someone who just wants to use the internet for browsing and posting on forums it's pretty damn good.

Well, that is an unfortunate problem, Panda. I wish Chrome worked for you.
Added benchmarks for javascript speed if anyone cares about that, and 2 extra topics.
Chrome is faster, but I can't go without my firefox addons.

Those benchmarks are out of date, Safari and Firefox have both had work done to their JS engines to speed them up (for a while Firefox was faster than Chrome at standard benchmarks) JS speed isn't everything though, what most people would care about is the speed of reflowing, painting, etc.
I use google chrome, haven't gone back.
that graph is old

Chrome's tabbing feature is awesome, because it's so much faster because it launches each tab in a new process, unlike firefox that runs them all in one. I was using Firefox, then when Google Chrome came out, I switch, and use Firefox as my backup browser.

Which is the only reason I went back to Firefox.
I'm gonna have to call you out. Either you are inflating that percentage, or you are going to some kooky websites. A program that works for almost everyone else just happens to not work for you? I could see if it was a game or something that might be wonky on certain hardware, but chrome is just a regular program that doesn't really depend on specific hardware. My guess if it actually is 57%, you are going to a bunch of non-mainstream sites that are overloaded with flash or just badly programmed. So I guess my question is, what sites crash? For me: I'd say maybe 1% of sites have ever crashed, not counting when I was using the linux build.
Sites: Facepunch AeroXP WithinWindows Neowin GeekSmack VSB Forums BetaArchive They didn't crash, they simply gave me an error over half the time I tried to load it. I don't know if that particular build of Chrome 4 used a bad revision of WebKit or what, I just couldn't take it.
I didn't even have to read the OP. You can't really compare them. Chrome = Faster Firefox = Addons and customization
