People still using Windows XP: Why are you not using a Linux based operating system? I'm very serious as well, considering that support for the now very outdated operating system Windows XP seems to have run out, and the technology it builds upon is very old and not very stable, compared to that of Debian or the like. [editline]foo[/editline] I'm okay with you people rating me dumb, but other than just doing so, would you mind explaining why? I would like to hear your opinion.
Updated The Sticky Jumper to only allow 2 active stickybombs at a time
NOOOOOO
TF2 Runs on Directx 8 (or is it 9) which works on XP, they are expected to continue giving it support in that case, that doesn't mean Valve will make other games more XP friendly in fact its still slowing down development. Seriously if you're running XP you're a fucking moron, upgrade to 7 or 8 they literally make your computer better, if you can't afford it I understand but seriously windows 8 was $20 when it came out, and if your computer can't handle it you need to upgrade it

Because supposly "XP has nothing wrong with it" which is a dumb excuse, the system was released in 2001 and it was great for its time, now its just a shit stain that's getting wiped off next year because Microsoft and everyone was tired supporting it. Literally 7 and 8 is a tremendous upgrade you won't be looking back at XP anymore when you make a switch As for Linux, currently only valve games, a handful of AAA titles and tons of indie games support it, making it not very viable at this time

People will use what they want. If they have a fully modern gaming system and choose to use XP it's their choice, and any problems they have is down to them to fix. But calling them fucking morons just makes you look like an asshole.
XP isn't really supported nor is it really functional, unless you have no money to upgrade thats the only reason i see as why you shouldn't upgrade to 7 or 8
XP isn't really supported nor is it really functional, unless you have no money to upgrade thats the only reason i see as why you shouldn't upgrade to 7 or 8
It isn't receiving mainstream updates, but it is still receiving security updates, and a lot of major hardware manufacturers are still pumping out new drivers for it. It is still functional, I agree that windows 7 and windows 8 are affordable and I agree they are good upgrades that offer a lot of improvement (I run a triple boot of XP, 7 and 8) and I've had no problems with either of them. If you're saying that gaming is more functional and has better support on 7 and 8 then you're right and I agree with you, but the "fucking morons" sentence in your post doesn't appear to be aimed at gamers, it's appears to be aimed at all users of the XP operating system.
Because Linux doesn't support nearly as many games as Windows platforms do.
I'm pretty sure that I can play the same games on my Linux desktop as someone could on Windows XP. At least the only games on my Steam list (which you can view for yourself) that I've had trouble with, were Skyrim (still a bit slow) and RAGE (doesn't run well on my hardware even on Windows 7, so whatever). Pretty much all other games either work GREAT or at least work.
Have you ever considered that maybe those people don't want to use Linux?
I have, but until I hear from those people I can't really be sure. [editline]18th September 2013[/editline]
Windows 7/8 would be better. Becuase it supports just about all Steam games.
That would depend on your definition of better, but it does indeed support almost all Steam games, although not all hardware in a typical Windows XP machine would support SSE4/SSE5 and DX10/11.
If people want to stick with XP for some weird reason, let them, quit being an asshole about it, because it's not like you're going to stop them anyway.
aww that is pretty nice of Valve on another note, entire hospitals are still run on XP
If you want to use XP then use XP but acknowledge that it's obsolete, has been replaced by several better operating systems, it's market share has been going down for years, and that gives software devs no reason to not drop support for it (outside of specific parts of the market which still rely on old computers, for example government offices. hell, supermarkets still use 3.1 or DOS for their systems) It's like bitching when you can't buy VHS tapes for your 1990's camcorder or ink for your typewriter at your local supermarket or something

see, this is why valve hasn't updated Source to use Dx10 or Dx11... tf2 could be soooo much faster
