Come on, it's just a game. People get scared way too easily.
Well shit I didn't think you could get a refund for such reasons.
That guy is stupid though. It's just a damn video game.
Don't Valve usually issue every user at least one refund, no matter what the reason?
But it's not the player getting the baptism, it's the character. Do people just not listen to the main characters' dialogues in games?
He intended to play a game where he'd murder countless people, which is in direct violation of one of the ten commandments under which worshiping the one true god is also listed.
In other words, bull-fucking-shit.

Bit slow there.

You are wrong, he would stun them rather than kill them.
And when it came down to bosses, it was a justified and legitimate act of self defense.

Except you have to kill everything.
There is no pacifism in this game, no skipping fights usually. Admittedly it's self-defense though.

so is lying
but as yall know, not every christian makes it their personal duty to follow every rule in the bible (or even in the commandments)
sometimes baptism offends people or makes them uncomfortable because it's a topic that's rarely touched upon by the media

The issue isn't that he broke one of the Ten Commandments, but that he used it as an excuse to get a refund in a very hypocritical manner.

I've always seen baptism of babies as a good occasion for a family reunion.
Seriously as far as I remember all of my family which includes uncles, cousins, etc has been baptized, not even because we're really christian but more like because it's a good opportunity to gather the whole family and spend a day doing nothing.
I'm a baptist and I don't mind nor care whats in the game.
The only thing I care is that you have the ability to play it. Basically this manbaby is stating 'oh there is religious content in this game, I want a refund'
The issue isn't that he broke one of the Ten Commandments, but that he used it as an excuse to get a refund in a very hypocritical manner.
no, the issue is that he was offended by a topic that he wasn't expecting to be covered in a first person shooter, and as a result he couldn't finish the rest of the game
the dude didn't say "this game is bad no-one buy it" or "this game is morally corrupt"
he simply requested a refund to a game he couldn't finish (or even start, for that matter) for entirely personal reasons

being baptized more than once is sometimes seen as a bad thing

I misunderstood your point because I somehow overlooked the last line in your original post, mybad.

Its a matter of principle, perspective and opinion. You may think this is retarded but thousands of others may agree with him. Don't call the guy an idiot for sticking up for what he believes in.
if you play the game as a murderer murdering people, why doesn't that crop up as a violation of belief?

Not to mention he bought a game and was fully aware of what was going to be in it. This isn't a case of false advertising like War Z, it's literally just a man wanting a refund on the grounds that he doesn't like the contents of a game he has willingly purchased in full knowledge of what was in.
if you play the game as a murderer murdering people, why doesn't that crop up as a violation of belief?
it does but it's not quite as jarring / offensive because it happens all the time in first person shooters and the dude's probably used to virtual violence - not being offended by murder doesn't mean you have to be perfectly fine with everything under it

baptism wasn't advertised at all dude

remember all of those "BAPTISM SCENE SHOWCASE" pre-release marketing videos?
yeah me neither.
Yeah because the game was totally exempt of strong religious symbolism when they showed pre-release marketing footage of it.
baptism wasn't advertised at all dude
But my point is there is no false advertising, so you can't ask for a refund that easily. It's not like there was a big "THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SCENE OF BAPTISM IN THIS ENTIRE GAME, NOPE SIR, I SWEAR TO YOU ON THE HEAD OF ME MUM" white text on the store page, and once you launched the game, the first thing you see is a baptism. And even then who the fuck with a tiniest bit of sense would give a fuck.
It's a guy being baptized in a game. And it's a central plot point. Big fucking deal. I'd have more respect for people complaining about the main character being part of the wounded knee massacre than for this dipshit.

actually yeah you can
take movies for instance - you can pretty much get a refund for anything offensive as long as you do it super early on
some people get offended by different things, and if they weren't able to play / watch / otherwise experience whatever they bought because of it? well then
actually yeah you can

Because you are entitled to the right of demanding your money back doesn't mean you should use it for a matter as pitiful as whining like a silly bitch because whatever you bought had shit that "offended you" in it. If something as minor as a 2 minute long scene from a game is enough to offend you deeply you should probably work on your priorities.
It's like these people on the Bethesda forums who threatened to boycott Skyrim because there were giant spiders in it, and wanted Bethesda to remove them entirely.
Or how peta complained because you kill a rat in battlefield 3.

you don't get to decide what people should be offended by
you don't get to decide what people should be offended by
No but I can get to decide when it's being stupid or not. It's called common sense.
No but I can get to decide when it's being stupid or not. It's called common sense.
the "common sense" you're referring to is entirely subjective lol.
No but I can get to decide when it's being stupid or not.
you must have a very low tolerance if this is what you'd call 'stupid'
It's called common sense.
that's not what common sense is
Religion is a joke.
Valve is cool guy for refunding him, but this guy needs to chill.
