New PC/wireless network card, terrible lagspikes when playing online.

So basically i bought a new computer, everything works fine except for when i try to actually play something (world of tanks, planetside 2, etc)
My ping will randomly shoot up from 140 to 500-999, however when i download something, i get a smooth 8mb/s.
As i cannot into networking, my attempt at fixing this has ended at restarting the router, modem and PC.
My wireless card is a ASUS PCE-N53 300Mbps 11n Dual band Wireless LAN PCI-E Card and my router is a D-link DIR-655.
As for the rest of my computer specs

Forgot to add that my previous card never had any problems like this.
So does your old network card work?
You can try hooking up with a cable just to confirm everythings right. (should be though)
My first thought is that it's possibly your router being awful at running in mixed mode.
Basically, if there's any G/B traffic at the same time as N, the N clients will suffer. Either set the router to be N only or set it to be G/B only.

I switched the router to NG mode, seems to have fixed it.
Thankies <3
