That picture look hideous.
[editline]2nd May 2012[/editline]
that trailer too
Just what Call of Duty needs, a Red, Blue and Green ending.
Oh boy, I expect myself liking the CoD series again.
[editline]2nd May 2012[/editline]
but it looks like the same linear storyline with different mission paths.
How is woods still alive? I thought he died in the first game.

It was a magic trick.
How is woods still alive? I thought he died in the first game.
You never see him die, you just ASSUME he dies, difference between a plot twist and plot hole.
How is woods still alive? I thought he died in the first game.
iirc there is info on the computer in the menu room that says he is in a POW camp. Doesn't explain how he lived for so long though.
I look at the trailer and think, is this really a 2012 game?
I can't blame them for milking though, they're cashing in and they're not going to stop until it all dries up.
I have to admit though, this one looks like it's going to be one of the most original ones since the first Modern Warfare. I heard they were talking about non-linear sandbox levels and everything. My hope for Treyarch is not completely gone yet (but it's close), so i'm going to keep an eye out on this one.
It actually looks decent.
Preeeeetty sure hell froze over a while ago...

He'd be 95 so it's not exactly impossible. Especially when he was apparently living in a place that's all about keeping important people safe.
How is woods still alive? I thought he died in the first game.
Hey, if Price survived in the end of MW1, why not Woods?
Wow, I just might buy this COD game. I liked the other Call of Duty games that Treyarch made. It isn't the same modern "HAERD KOR ARMY" story, it's a futuristic "HAERDKOR ROBOT" story with multiple endings and new guns, it seems. They might even give a canon reason for health regeneration!
He'd be 95 so it's not exactly impossible. Especially when he was apparently living in a place that's all about keeping important people safe.
There were lights coming out of his chair, maybe they have life support too.
A branching storyline? Robot armies? Sequences set on horseback?
Who are these guys and what have they done with the Call of Duty devs? More power to them for making things somewhat different from the modern-day MMS (now it's somewhat futuristic), even if I don't like MMS's in general and don't want to feed their demonic overlords, but this is a bad move in terms of gaming politics; they should keep on making sucky boring rehashes, so that the franchise withers away and die.
They shouldn't be allowed to do things new and exciting, since that only adds more gold-plated foie gras to the Beelzebob's dinner party superyacht, but we all know that nobody just keels over and gives up in a war like this; most combatants are too damn resilient to go down with a few bullets, instead hiding behind chest-high walls to magically regrow the parts that got shot off like it was nothing.
All in all, innovation is usually a good thing, but it can only mean bad things when the bad guy fat cats utilise it, since the money they earn is not deserved in the slightest because they are evil. It's not that they cater strongly to casuals (Call of Duty is objectively a casual game franchise), the casuals have as much right to be here as the hardcore knights of the dedicated gaming order; it is that when they make it so easy to play that little kids want to play it, thus raising a rowdy uncultured yoof kulcher (mis-spelt because they're uncultured) that doesn't appreciate the finer things in the gaming world like immersive and engaging RPGs, instead opting to rofl at asinine immature facebook posts and disrupt lessons at technical colleges by turning their white-noise dubstep and shaking around in their seats, like they're having a seizure due to their chavvy mis-bred soccer mothers forgetting to inject liquid ritalin directly into their faces that afternoon.
That aside, even though it looks interesting, it'd be better off for the gaming community as a whole if Activision decided to fuck everything up by introducing a CoD game that involves the soldiers riding cartoony multicoloured ponies that act like psychopathic little girls; an idea so terrible, deranged and niche that the game ends up flopping horribly and causing the goliath to crash to the ground, bringing about a time when the Activision monopoly is pretty much dead, allowing cooler and more awesome companies like Valve, CD Projekt and Frictional to maintain a balance.
If it sounds like a horrible idea, that's the plan; fuck things up so much that the soulless corporate behemoths all go bankrupt, leading to a renaissance of indie titles and better quality triple-A titles.
*takes his medication*
Nice, now Cod will look like Halo Reach.

Are you serious? This looks absolutely hideous. Not even the MW3 trailer had blurry textures in the fucking trailer. I have no expectations at all for this one. The series is dead.

He was probably talking about things like gameplay, story, setting, theme.

NANOMACHINES
no but seriously Treyarch always had some non-linearity in their games, or at least decision trees.
In CoD:W@W, last american mission (at that castle with tons of mortars), either Roebuck or Polonsky could die depending on your actions.
I like how they emphasize that it's not an RPG if they branch the storyline. Clearly that is the main selling point of RPG, rather than leveling, gaining new gear and acquiring new skills.
that is the worst voice acting ever ahahahaha
Nice, now Cod will look like Halo Reach.
2025 =/= 2554
I'm definitely interested, but I'm not paying full price for it, that's for sure. I'll get it off a key site for $20/$30 a week later.
You never see him die, you just ASSUME he dies, difference between a plot twist and plot hole.
So you're saying that he survived from that multiple grenade explosion around the Russian guy?
So you're saying that he survived from that multiple grenade explosion around the Russian guy?
The game has weirder things. Like Mason and Reznov kicking tons of ass when it's really just Mason hallucinating the whole time (and thus being a literal one-man-army) - yet computer easter eggs revealing that Reznov might be as alive as Woods was thanks to some 'Mr. X'.
Maybe...just maybe EA/DICE will make a 2142 remake to counter such. I miss the titan days and commander..orbital bombardment was fun.
Hey, if Price survived in the end of MW1, why not Woods?
You actually witness Price dying. Woods was assumed dead but it wasnt impossible for him to die.
Kotaku made a nice list of facts of what they know so far. Some stuff I didn't know

They seem to be putting a lot of effort into this
I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but they at least appear to be trying.
