• Steam crashing on startup

Well I was playing TF2 and my PC froze on me. I held down the power button and restarted my PC. When it starts up, I get this.
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: Steam.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4a15c82b Fault Module Name: Steam.dll Fault Module Version: 2.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a98697e Exception Offset: 001af887 Exception Code: c000000d Exception Data: 00000000 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: e84f Additional Information 2: e84f2ba677f32b22d4fe7414b77bfb1d Additional Information 3: f6ff Additional Information 4: f6ff4e4c560038aee60e380cf38286aa
I have no idea what to do. I've restarted my PC, re-installed STEAM, deleted Steam.dll, and ClientRegistry.blob. Does anyone know how to fix this? It was working just fine before it crashed.
That's steams fault. Reinstall it, should fix it. Looks like a registry error.

Did you remove it from programs list? Or just delete the files.
Did you remove it from programs list? Or just delete the files.
Removed it from the programs list.
Remember to check and see if every single file was deleted, even if steamapps is still there, it could be causing the problem
All files gone.
He doesn't have to delete steamapps as that contains the .gcf's for the games, and redownloading them would be a bitch. OP: Check the registry to see if something is being left behind when you uninstall.

that doesn't matter, it doesn't affect Steam.exe reinstall Steam and it will work
that doesn't matter, it doesn't affect Steam.exe reinstall Steam and it will work
Did it again and it still just crashes.
I'd say delete that registry entry, then run CCleaner (with steam uninstalled) to see if it finds any registry entries that may be left behind. Steam (and source games, for that matter) create a huge mess in the registry.

I'm going to try and do a system restore, see if that fixes it.
What OS are you on?
What OS are you on?
It's vista OS 6.1 = vista
It's vista OS 6.1 = vista
No, NT6.1 is Windows 7. Notice the build is 7600, which is the Windows 7 RTM. NT6.0 is vista. Don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about.
Don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about.
Chill. What?
