Weird thing I learned while browsing Reddit today. I had to try it for myself...
2G iPod Touch:

BlackBerry Bold 9000
Most modern scanners do not have color pixels, just ones that record luminosity. In order to get color photographs they flash RED GREEN BLUE very fast with the imaging light and record the luminosity. They use this information to make the photo. Since the screen is always luminous, despite the color of the imaging light it shows up as a mixture of all colors, so it is all gray.
The second image hurts my eyes.
Oh cool
That's really sweet. Never would have thought of that.
woah

When I was smoking weed, LCD screens looked like that
I didn't know that. But I just noticed if I look at my scanner out the corner of my eye as it scans with the lid thingie cracked open I can see the colours. Nifty. :v:

Wow you're so cool
I had tried to scan, but my scanner is too old to even see what's on the screen.

Did you seriously scan your monitor?
How big is that?
Did you seriously scan your monitor?
How big is that?
Your common ordinary 15" 1024 x 768 monitor from about 2003. Friend gave it to me, since he upgraded to a widescreen a few months ago and he had no use for it. This isn't my primary monitor though. It just happened to be laying on the floor next to me.
heard or read?

That you would scan a monitor instead of a phone is rather badass.
i wonder what this does with OLED or e-Ink
That you would scan a monitor instead of a phone is rather badass.
I was going to use my phone but I couldn't find it. And my Nokia didn't have a charge. So I used the next best thing available.

Somebody scan their Kindle.
The second image looks like some sort of promo for a horror film :ohdear:
I scanned my Gameboy Color once with my mom's scanner, and it came out fine, back in 1999. Of course, the Gameboy Color has no backlight, so that might be partly why it was successful, I don't know...

perhaps i should have clarified - color e-ink, which isn't in anything yet.
Try scanning in a black and white image; maybe it will come out in color.
OLED would be the same. Don't know about e-ink.
