But today's gaming PC won't run "tomorrow's" games. I think that Carmack's point is that mobile will only run yesteryear's games well, but never modern games.

The thing is that we will reach a wall at one point of what is visually possible (where do you go after realistic graphics?). At that point it's not important anymore that even better PCs come out for videogames and mobile hardware won't have a problem running them as yesterday's and tomorrow's games will run on them as well because of said wall.

That wall is far in the future seeing how companies STILL are showing fake graphics at E3.

He said Moore's law is coming to an end. Today's PCs are more powerful than phones will ever be.
