My birthday is coming up in a month, so I decided I might as well ask for a new computer, because my current one is gonna be 2 years old then (bought it pre-built).
Here is what I got so far: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=19445451
I was considering getting the 4th Gen Intel Processors, but I read that they're geared towards laptops or something. I could be wrong.
Any thoughts on the build?
Note: I plan to order a Windows 8 backup disc and install it on the computer (for only 15$).

Haswell just came out, might want to look into that?

Benchmarks are better on the new generation, prices are comparable, they're also using a new socket which will help (you) for future upgrades, if you were inclined to go that route.
Also, 16GB of ram is massive overkill for gaming. Just go with 8.

If that's the case, then would this be worthwhile replacements:
i5-4670K - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116899
Motherboard: ASUS 1150 or MSI 1150
I've been using MSI boards for over a decade and have never had an issue, the same can't be said about my experience with ASUS.
You migh want to upgrade to the g45 gaming. It has way better sound.

So this then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130693
yep
You posted earlier to a thread to provide your similarly budgeted build. I put some suggestions in there as did HolyCrapAWalrus. We both think its a bit overkill.

So here is the now current build I'm shooting for.
don't need 16gb. i spent $52 on 8gb of corsair vengeance, so you're way overspending.
and psu can be better

$20 MIR too. save a lot. 750w is just fine for your build

I was thinking 750, but I wasn't too sure.
B-but I need the ram.
For what, what could you possible game with that will use 16gb?
750 is more than enough. even a good 600w would do it.

770's minimum is 600.

that doesn't mean anything. not like it consumes the whole 600w alone

I've been contemplating if I really need those 2TB.
Would this be a good 1TB hard drive?
would be fine
tbh I would switch out the 16Gb RAM for 8Gb and spend the money on a Samsung 840 120Gb SSD
I'm currently looking at building a new rig and am nearly identical setup and only $1600 in AU$
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Khutor/saved/1Sqi
How she looking now?
Much better
Look great, similar to my build in my post.
Decided to switch the case to Rosewill THOR V2.
Also will I need a bracket-thing for the SSD?

No.

As you can see the detachable drive bays have 2.5" mounting points.
Pretty good set up for $1200. Way out of my price range though. xD Have fun buying and building. :)
So I talked to my friend and he suggested that I just put in my current hard drive with my OS and get another hard drive as well, take out my current optical drive and put it inside, and to get a liquid cooler for my CPU.
[sp]Not getting an SSD because, well, he convinced I really don't need an SSD, and he is doing fine without one[/sp]

Honestly, I don't think liquid cooling is necessary for that kind of build even if you overclock (and you should if you plan on getting an i5-4670k). I think your original build was necessary. Of course you can do fine without one, but it will unquestionably speed up your boot time. I think its a better use of money than liquid cooling.
Agreed with flayne, scrap that cooler and get http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120bw. It'll be MUCH more beneficial for the build, and if you plan on overclocking down the line you can just get the cooler and just put it on, instead of having to reinstall the OS and having an unusable comp for awhile. Though OC'ing is badass, so if you can get the cooler, do it. You won't regret getting the SSD, especially the 840, everyone I've suggested it to has never said anything less and bloody awesome. :)
