This is one of the only games I've ever played where I actually feel the need to take a break every hour. Normally games tell you that and it's like "alright whatever" but the artstyle in this game, as themed as it is, physically drains me. Which really fucking sucks because the game is great and the references are well strewn about.
Now available on Linux... Also on MS-DOS! Now I can finally play this since GTA V doesn't support MS-DOS, damn you Rockstar. Very fun game, I totally recommend it. One common complain/praise is the references being everywhere, so you might or not enjoy or get the jokes. But gameplay is great and fun to play it from time in time.
The developer for this game is kind of prolific with his ports. Originally started as a NES game, moved to PC, ported to various consoles, completed version ported to NES as its own prototype, optimized for 3DS, optimized again for MS-DOS (with optimizations ported back to to 3DS), and now there's a Windows 3.1 prototype. All while continuously improving the game's missions and visuals (original version didn't have dynamic shadows). The game itself is great fun, best played with a controller. The PC version has native support for the PS4 controller, if you've got a USB cable handy.
I bought this game on the 3ds and it's well worth it, kind of a great handheld game. Don't know if I would play it on pc though.
