After the engine of his Porsche 911 decided to die (and take much of the cooling system along with it in some kind of powertrain suicide pact), the owner considered the $20,000 repair job and instead decided to donate the car to a non-profit. A non-profit dedicated to protecting gun rights. Let's find out what happens when you pump a car with 10,000 rounds of hot lead.

Who hasn't wanted to take a few shots at a 911, even an older model, after years of dealing with Porsche drivers? They probably owe us one. So rather than spend more on the car than it was worth, it was nice of this particular owner to donate it to charity.
In this case, the charity is Commonwealth Second Amendment (Comm2A), a group dedicated to "bringing some sanity to Massachusetts gun laws."
They're also dedicated to schadenfreude as they parked the car in a fake "no parking" spot so America can finally exercise its anti-asshat driver desires.

For those of you worried about a car going to waste, Tom from Comm2A (a motorcycle racer/gun enthusiast) assured us the vehicle was in no shape to be sold off for parts or raced. Also, he pointed out it was an automatic transmission.

"We figured it would be a good time, cars are nice large targets, these shoots tend to be social events, they're fun times for people to hang out, get together, and chat. Obviously, there's lots of shooting," said Tom.
The event was co-hosted by the Northeast Shooters, who estimated that approximately 140 people showed up for the fundraiser. It's difficult to know exactly how much ammo was spent decimating the Porsche, but 10,000 seems to be the conservative estimate.

As you can see in the photos, the weapons used varied from hand guns to rifles to a twin M2 Browning machine gun with basically everything in between. They did their the worst to decimate the spent 911, but even all their firepower couldn't completely penetrate the rear-engined sports car.
According to Tom, the Porsche held up better than most (and he assured me they've shot plenty of cars).
"Right by the gas cap there are almost no rounds penetrating through the car. It's amazingly strong enough to not allow rounds to go through all the way. There was another spot between the engine and the passenger compartment that didn't allow rounds to go through," said Tom. "That basically just lets me know whatever passenger zone it was strong enough to stop bullets."
It's true. Take a look at the after photos and you'll see a few places where few, if any, rounds penetrated. Maybe that's why Porsche drivers feel so brazen about cutting people off.

Awesome :D
Not really 10,000 bullets, I noticed in the video at least a quarter of them hit the ground in front of it.

Yeah, I noticed that too... some of those guys can't shoot for shit
Yeah, I noticed that too... some of those guys can't shoot for shit
You've clearly never shot a gun before.

Probably shrapnel bouncing off the car

stop being a twat.
there's a ton of recoil and there were definitely a couple of them firing full auto.
imagine holding a rifle steady while someone punches you in the shoulder over and over again, twice a second
Porsche's always look fucking ugly to me.
Automatic transmission? I would wanna destroy it too.

Epic gun
To be honest, I giggled a little bit when I saw that picture, and then wondered how the car is still not reduced to a pile of shredded metal.
.50 cal is the shit.

It actually all depends on how long you've fired gun, what model gun it is, how you hold it. The MP40 for example is a great gun for novices as long as they wear gloves. Its incredibly balanced as it used the steel cartridge as the forward grip.
Well obviously he shouldn't have parked there.
Somehow I agree that nothing of value was actually lost.
one minute with heavy

it's just for fun, what's wrong with it?
shooting is a fun hobby, you don't have to be a closet serial killer or mass murderer to enjoy the challenge of marksmanship, or in this case, testing out well made weapons and having a good time with people who share the same interests.
people should try and remember that gun ownership isn't all about home defense or the ability to massacre a shopping mall, it's also a fun hobby with a large sense of community.
my advice to people who are strongly anti-gun is to go out to your local range, rent a weapon, set up some targets and spend the day shooting with friends/family
maybe after you try it you'll realize that gun ownership isn't just for people who want to feel powerful knowing they could kill somebody with it.
A .50 caliber bullet costs 10 dollars depending on your state.
A few of the other big cartridges shoot for like...2 to 3 dollars.

not if you buy in bulk :smug:

Maskmanship as a sport? That's far more focused on semi-automatic weapons, I fail to see why one would need a fully automatic weapon in order to have a fun time.

I understand this, I routinely go shooting with family and friends when down in Florida.
What I'm simply saying (as a person who has been immersed into several different states' gun cultures) is that the people that are in groups dedicated to gun rights generally aren't looking for "sane" gun laws - they're looking for little to no regulation whatsoever, which is absolutely idiotic.
I can understand how it's a fun activity, but just as you say i'll realize it's not just for people who want to feel powerful, many people treat them like fucking toys which they most certainly are not. The obsessive gun culture treats them like toys.
edit: i'm hardly anti-gun, I share 6 weapons with my father that we went in together on.
Gun Shows/Trade Shows fuck yeah'
I got a box of about 350 .38 Special for about $45[came with a NATO Ammo Box aswell!]. Great deal considering they sell .38 at Walmart at about 50 bullets for $25.
