• VGA to DVI Problems

I just installed a new ASUS Radeon HD 6870 card and the card has only two DVI slots. A VGA to DVI adapter came with it as well, and I have been trying for over an hour to get it to work correctly. When I plug my VGA cable with the adapter on it into the card, my monitor (a Dell S2009Wb) instantly tells me "Entering Sleep Mode" and refuses to wake up. I have also rebooted my PC many times and have the Catalyst Control Manager installed. To check if this was my monitor or not I have also tried this on a second monitor (an AOS F19s) and with three different VGA cables, all to no avail. I know that the card is running because I can hear and see the fan in it running. I don't know what to blame; my card, my monitors, or my adapter. Any help please?
Disable your onboard GPU.
Disable your onboard GPU.
I just tried that, and then I went into the BIOS to make sure that it was using PCIe first. When I logged in I got a notification telling me that "The device drivers could not be installed". So I guess now it's just a matter of the drivers. I have Catalyst Install Manager already though. You don't have any DVI cables to test with? Also, what motherboard are you using, is the GPU power in, and what is your power supply?
Never mind, I fixed it. Somehow the card came out of the slot slightly and putting it back in more firmly this time made it work. I feel really silly right now for not suspecting that in the first place.
That's what I originally told you. Oh my gooooooooood!
