My town is scheduled to get FTTC in March of next year, I'm not surprised they chose FTTC over FTTP though, it's quite a small town.

If your cabinet is close enough the difference really is negligible.
Fastest in Europe by 2015? Sort out the rural areas for frig sake.

I assume by cabinet they mean the box near your house, not the exchange? If so it's about a 5 minute walk from my house, which isn't too bad.(Measuring on G Maps it's about 0.4 miles away.)
Meanwhile in America, We get usage caps instead of better connections.
Fantastic, for people who will receive it...
And yet my town will still be slower than almost all surrounding towns if you go with BT as our exchange is just old now.
This is good for some, bad for the majority.
It's called FTTH here in Malaysia (fiber-to-the-house).
Aaannddd Australia is still shit.
They promised our area FTTC 2 years ago, still not done.
I'm still on 4Mbit ADSL2 :saddowns:

Speak for yourself, I'm on Telstra 100mbit :v:
I won't ever move back to BT for my internet, ever. FTTC is in my area but because of bad experiences with throttling with BT in the past, I doubt I would ever get the full 80meg most of the time.
Currently on BE and get their full 20meg, without any billy bollocks throttling. I'm content with it and I will just wait until BE offer their own FTTP/FTTC option.
And here in Canada we have no plans to improve our internet and instead are moving towards lower bandwidth and more expensive tiered plans.
Well its good news that they have more plans, the bad news is that areas like mine keep getting delayed, i'm now promised that I'll be getting it in December but I have doubts about that.
I've got virgins FTTC. It's awesome. FTTP is fucking madness.
FTTC currently has a top speed of 40Mbps although BT promised to double that to around 80Mbps next year.
Hngggggggh

Fuck yeah
:smith:
I really wish the CRTC would get its shit together, the situation is getting rather ridiculous here.
Virgin Media has 500mbps coming, I just got my new 500mbps router.
