Sims is becoming the next Railworks with all the fullpriced dlcs they release.
Sims is becoming the next Railworks with all the fullpriced dlcs they release.
Yeah. One major "DLC" every 6 months. Totally compares to Railworks DLC that is released every friday. Also this is an expansion pack. For some reason EA or Valve markets them as DLC on Steam.

One pack literally just adds the option to have a garage and new cars to park in it. Another pack adds more jobs to the list so that you can pick more for your sim.
These 'expansion packs' are highly overpriced for content that should have already been in the game.
That expression is just what kids who know nothing about game design complain about, a day 1 dlc is something that should have been in the game, something that comes out months after is not, by that theory that "dlc something" should have been in the game to begin with, the games would never get released or just 4 years later than what they were supposed to.
Oh man I love Katy Perry.

If the dlc or expansion is worth buying, then I will spend the money on it. And yes, Sims has always released expansion packs that add a variety of things like the ability to have your sim die, or go to a nightclub, but with the Sims 3, these packs just don't feel like they carry the same weight they did back with the Sims 1 and even Sims 2. So far, I have found that these expansion packs just don't offer enough for what they charge for them. The pirate back adds a few new costumes, and a new map to build homes on, one with more waterfront property to make it more like an island home. Paying $20 or more for a house addition is complete crap and you can't argue with that. Back in the days of The Sims 1, you could go on the internet and just download these type of expansions for free. The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff retails at $20, and quite literally just adds junk to clutter a back porch with.
Turn up the heat with an all-new built-in countertop grill as part of your Sims’ outdoor kitchen and take their cooking to a whole new level.
If you are fine with paying extra for this crap, then good for you, but I for one will not justify wasting money on it.
You guys arguing that this isn't to make money realize that: 1. Half of the object meshes from The Sims 2 are reused 2. Half of the sounds are reused. 3. Half of the content that was in the base sims 2 is missing in base sims 3 4. None of the content from the Sims 2 expansion packs are in Sims 3, meaning progress from 2003-2008 has been completely wiped off the slate, there is no excuse for this considering how similar they are in appearance, engine, and gameplay.
So is this like the Superstar pack för the Sims 1? Cool, I suppose.
I wanna see Drew Carey in game again.
I wanna see Drew Carey in game again.
Drew Carey ruined all my parties. When ever he arrived people would gather around him, lose interest and then leave.

I read the name as "The Sims 3: Shower time", I was disappointed when I realized I misread it.

For some reason EA or Valve markets them as DLC on Steam.
Railworks DLC releases often because it isn't all made by the main developer. You have lots of independent developers making their own routes, models, textures and sounds. Now as this is a simulator, everything has to be precise and 100% accurate, this takes a lot of time for each developer to do, each DLC is bought by a niche market so only about 750 are going to buy it. If Railworks was very popular and had Hundreds of Thousands of players, the DLC price would be reduced by quite a lot.
The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff retails at $20, and quite literally just adds junk to clutter a back porch with.
Not an expansion pack, but a stuff pack. The difference between the two, for those who don't know, is that expansion packs typically add on some new game mechanic that expands (hence the name) upon the game and its features. Stuff packs typically just add stuff. More times than not, it's all crap, although the first one they put out had some throwback items from the first game, which is pretty neat. What you're complaining about aren't actually expansion packs. The pirate pack is just a pirate themed neighborhood, and the stuff packs are exactly what their name says. But, that being said, I agree with you on stuff packs. They're a waste of money, and more times than not, you can find custom made items from the community that are of much higher quality. Hell, even some of the expansion packs haven't been worth it (I'm looking at you Generations and Pets, and to a lesser extent, Showtime [aka, Late Night pt II]).
I was more pissed how at release they had a TON of content in the online store and that was intentionally kept off the disc.

In their descriptions, they make it seem like each part adds such a significant amount of additions, yet don't really add much to the game. The only ones that I have ever played besides the base game are ambitions, pets, and generations, as well as a few of the stuff packs (Pirate, Master Suite, Town Life, Fast Lane, High-end loft), and they all left me disappointed. They just didn't feel like good expansions to The Sims like back in the days of 1.

The problem with the expansions this generation, in my opinion, is that they try to do a lot and include several expansions from the past games in each, but only have a little bit of content included. Late Night added content was was previously in Downtown and Nightlife, as well as the celebrity bits from Superstar and apartments reminiscent of Apartment Life. The problem I found was that although they had tried to do all of these, each felt really shallow and they should have focused on only one aspect instead of three (and if they did so, maybe we wouldn't be having Showtime now). Ambitions added the ability to work from home, poorly reminiscent of Open for Business (and was even mentioned as being the same thing by one of the devs on their forums when it was released), and added some new features as well, but never really did anything as well as they should've. But yeah, you're best bet for new gameplay features would be to stop with the stuff packs and look into getting expansion packs (World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, and now Showtime). Or just buy and play the Sims 1 and 2. The base games are really cheap for both, and so should the expansions be (or for the Sims 1, just buy the complete edition). [editline]6th March 2012[/editline]
I was more pissed how at release they had a TON of content in the online store and that was intentionally kept off the disc.
I'm more pissed at how they release magic items with half assed features in the store, when their community is begging for a magic expansion that probably won't be made because of those items.
I forgot about Sims 3.
I forgot about Sims 3.
Thank's for letting us know
I want the fucking weather DLC.
I want the fucking weather DLC.
It was fun to lock Sims up on the roof in the middle of winter and leave them to freeze to death.:v:
Words cant express how happy I am to not have all those ridiculous cases and cd's to deal with when installing sims and expansion packs. I for one love the DLC solution.
I'll buy them when I can get the base game and all the expansions/DLC in a big pack for a reasonable price. Until then, I have the far superior The Sims 1 and 2.
ahahahahahaha omg I thought this was a joke at first

A LGR review of it. For those who don't know, this guy reviews every Sims expansion and stuff pack and lists off each item and gameplay feature in it. To me, the objects they included are nice (including the throwback to TS1 with the Genie Lamp), but those online features ruin everything else.
