Fuck.

Except for the 3200 jobs being saved.
I'm seriously getting sick of shit like this, GAME is the only shop which provide me with Pre-owned games where I can go along one morning (I did this morning) and get like 3 xbox 360 games for a tenner then when I'm done send em back for half the price I paid. No other shop lets me do that. Sure you might not like their business practice but as an actual shop it was handy, friendly and extremely convenient for many people.
My nearest one of those is 40 miles away.
Happy for the people who aren't out of jobs but annoyed that steam will continue to be cock blocked

You totally missed the point of my post. I want to wake up at 9am, go to town at 9:30am, come home at 10am with some cheap games. I can't do that with CEX.

Cheap games at GAME? lol
Only the random japanese robot fighting ones are cheap.
The CEX where I live doesn't sell any PC games and sell used games for full price. They also give you fuck all for trade-ins. Generally GAME is better but not by much.

Aha yeah m8 xD
You clearly don't go in there very often, and don't go looking at the Online prices for pre-owned as they're usually more expensive. Just go into one of the shops and look for some cool preowned games you want and you will find them pretty god damn cheap.
You'd rather do that than wake up at 9am, have the cheap games already delivered, go into town and not have to waste time and money on GAME ripping you off, and then come home at 10am with other shit you bought on the money you saved?
Still missing the point and I have yet to be ripped off by GAME on preowned games! Oh and CEX took like a month to deliver last time which wasn't fun.
The Stevenage shop was closing down and out of no where a razer death adder was in the clearance bin thing :v:
it's staying open now.
My experiences with GAME have been exclusively negative. I do not consider them to offer a good service, and they negatively impact good services which I want to use (Steam.)
For these reasons I do not want GAME to exist as a business.
To me it just seems like you've just got annoyed that you tried to trade in a game 6 months after release and only got offered £5 for it. Just because you've had a bad experience with something doesn't mean it should just disappear off the face of the planet and it's a god damn immature stance to take. I've only had positive experiences and I understand where the negativity stems from but seriously, WILLING them to just fail as a business is stupid.
I mean I've had a bad experience with say HTC Phones but do I want HTC to disappear? No because that's just childish.
They usually give you over 50% on the game.
On the rare occasions i've traded games in at GAME, i've been lucky to get 10% of the value back.
Exchanging in stores is always a rip off, you are better off just selling them on eBay or something.
In my experience they don't fucking rip you off in there.
Really? Cex is built on ripping people off. The prices they give you for trade ins is abysmal sometimes.
My local GAME provides an excellent service, i usually get to have a good gaming conversation with the people who work there, and they usually have really good deals and prices. I'm happy to see them back and hopefully with the new CEO things will stay good.
In my experience they don't fucking rip you off in there. Besides, GAME might be kind of alright for console games, but for PC games they're terrible and never stock anything beyond the latest Sims expansion or a World of Warcraft booster pack or whatever shit. They're also supposedly one of the main reasons why some games are region locked for me, why I have to wait for games to be out on retail despite digital distribution and their exclusivity deals are bullshit. They've caused me trouble before with their customer service, what with them outright accusing me of lying, and telling me 1 week before a game comes out that they can't stock it is atrocious customer service.
Want PC games? Steam/Origin
GAME might be good for the customers but for other companies? No. They are just being dicks with companies like Steam, and selling used games is a dickish move since it hurts the game companies badly (again: good for customers).

Are they both open now?
Thank god. The guys who work at my local GAME are awesome.
I hate GAME as a business, but at least people are keeping their jobs. Also, they deliver quicker than Amazon for me, making them better for console games, especially when they are around the same price.
The CEO of GAME is now MD (Marketing Director?) of Gamestation, which was an awesome shop. Maybe it'll start getting better

How is selling used games a dickish move? I understand that the companies don't get the money from it but I sell my used games on eBay so am I being a dick to the companies too?

Completely irrelevant but I couldn't help but laugh at the product image for one of their tvs:

Selling used games can very much be compared to pirating because it happens in such a large quantity.
GAME buys a game, Money goes to company
sells the game, Money goes to GAME
buys the game back, Loses some money
Sells it again earning 1.5 more then the original sale, No money goes to the game company plus GAME doesn't have to stock up 1 more of that game effectively 'doubling' the lost money for the game company. For one game this might not be so bad but it happens by the tons, plus include gamestop in that and then yes it can be compared to pirating in the 'not earned money but player receives game anyway' aspect.

Not everyone is a shut in or wakes up at midday.
It's too late for my store - but I'm glad to see the company has been saved!

You'd eliminating large sectors of tons of companies if you got rid of pre-owned games. HMV do it, Argos did it for a bit, CEX as mentioned above it's not just GAME. What about things like Charity shops?
If a game wasn't cheap on the pre-owned section I wouldn't have bought it anyway, there's no lost sale there and even if I did want it that badly I would've just gone to eBay or something. Pretty much any way they wouldn't have gotten any money from it. It's why I kind of agree with the Online passes because I like the preowned games and I do want to support the devs, and normally it's quite cheap to get an online pass anyway (around £8).

Offtopic, but Gamestation are shit. I ordered Just Cause 2, they took the money and it never came.

Did you call them up? Complain? Go to the local shop and ask for the game?
Icemaz do you really need to reply to every post in here that says something negative about GAME and give your opinion? We've seen your opinion in about 10 posts already, just give it a rest.
With GAME not going down, I can still hopefully get a job there then, always wanted to since I was a kid.
Yeah I complained. Still didn't come. And I have no idea where the nearest Gamestation is- I ordered it online. Besides, there's no point, I bought the game from Amazon and I've got it now. And it was cheaper from Amazon in the first place.
