I Need your Input Regarding the Best Choice of Distro for the Asus Eee 1201n

I previously had a friend install and configure Arch on my Asus Eee 1201n, but I had to remove it due to problems with dual booting. I am not at all unix savvy so I decided to get Ubuntu + Xubuntu to play around with and learn, but alas I am having problems.
The wireless card (I swear to fucking god wireless cards are the roots of all evil) refuses to play nice. I tried 2-3 different solutions, all regarding ndiswrapper and various drivers, specifically for the 1201n, but the wireless only works hit-and-miss.
I am close to giving up here, so I'm going to ask a bottom line question:
What is the best distro that will have easy compatibility with the Asus Eee 1201n's hardware?
Mint and Mandriva both tend to work really well with laptop hardware.

How customizable is Mint Xfce?
Just as customizable as any other xfce desktop.
