I posted about this build for a friend a while back, due to various delays he is only getting it now so I have made a good few changes since then:

Unfortunately he needs everything but an OS :<
Is this the best he can get without compromising too far on the peripherals, or are there any suggestions in general?
You could save a lot on mouse and keyboard and upgrade to better parts.

He really wants a G500, but the keyboard is negotiable. What would be the most important part to improve?
I had a GTX 470 in the basket earlier, but wasn't sure if it was worth the extra cost.
I think it is. From the benchmarks I see on youtube, the 470 is 10-15fps slower than a 480 in most games.
don't use overclockers, use ebuyer or scan

Neither of those have great shipping rates to Northern Ireland, and aria (which I usually use along with overclockers) ends up only £5-10 less and not having to deal with city link is worth the extra.

Might wanna reconsider getting another headphone.
3. Nothing that has fatal1ty in it for the headphones (sound card will be ok if you're gaming and need x-fi, I will cover this later).
Overclockers are fine.

Yeah I know fatal1ty headsets are shit, but since the guy I'm building this for is far from an audiophile and there is little choice other than 'gaming' headsets on overclockers, it seems like a decent choice.
Unless you could recommend something better for <£50, preferably on overclockers?

until you need to use their support

Technically yes, but the manufacturer have to find evidence that you have overclocked the component.
I think you can put back normal clocks before returning the product

Completely disagree - I RMAed a CM Storm Sentinel Advance mouse (that I absolutely hated) which had only minor defects that may have been my imagination and they gave me a full refund with no hassle.
Sure there are a lot of horror stories in reviews, but my personal experience has always been positive with overclockers.
