I'm fine with this. Though I would like to see an Elder Scrolls game in Elsweyr or Black Marsh maybe, I'm happy for Beth to take a break and focus on stuff like Fallout 4.
I hope Bethesda is done "streamlining" their titles. They've hit it big and they can make a Morrowind 2.0 game and still make a billion dollars.

Elsweyr and Blackmarsh are kinda same-y to be a whole game. They're better expansion content.
Elder Scrolls Akavir or bust

As much as I like Morrowind, the design is old and going back to how that game works would be retarded, even though honestly I liked a lot that Morrowind did way more than Skyrim. That said, Skyrim isn't the beckoning light of fantastic modern game design either. I'll be interested in what they do with the series later on in maybe 4-5 years and have somewhat high hopes since the evolution from Fallout 3 to Fallout 4 seems to be pretty nice.
We'll see.
I think the next location could either be Hammerfell (Redguards) if they feel like doing a more desert location while keeping the "main race" humans or maybe the Summerset Isles (High Elves) if they want the Thalmor to have a much more significant role than they did in Skyrim.

When somebody says they want morrowind 2.0, chances are they don't really want morrowind again, they want a modern game that fixes morrowind's flaws, but carries it's design goals.
A game with a deep and intricate plot that's more about political intrigue than hollywood action setpieces, an engrossing world that doesn't feel like it revolves around you, a character creation system that is simultaneously oldschool and modern (which is what morrowind was trying for)
we don't want morrowind again, we want morrowind 2.0, a better game that feels like an evolution of what morrowind tried, not a slightly better oblivion (note, I do think oblivion is a good evolution of morrowind for the most part, I just think they didn't try hard enough to fix it's problems in skyrim.)

I think you might like the Witcher 3...
I just hope they mix the missions more with different goals then the usual "Oh yeah we need this thing, please go into this dungeon and fetch me that thing".
Some dungeons actually had some things to it like puzzles or that you could tap in bandits who were having a funny conversations but usually it was the same.
Are the places we know of the only places in Nirn, maybe they could make somewhere new and creative while still making a TES game?
Personally I'd prefer to see more TES than more Fallout and it's already been a long while since Skyrim.
Also they really need to take a page out of CDPR's book when it comes to quest design, I'd love to see TES world fleshed out and feeling as personal, expansive and real as CDPR crafted the Witcher to be.
I can imagine Hammerfell would be next in line. Maybe squeeze High Rock in there
That makes me sad. I prefer TES over FO. But if it's as dumbed down as Skyrim, I guess I'm okay with no TES for a while.

The problem is that they keep trying to push the epic setpieces when the game can handle a dozen men in a field at most for either side.

To be honest I'll take a Morrowind 2.
The swamp setting is a shit with the graphics Morrowind has and I'd love to see that region in HD.
Honestly I've always found Bethesda's formula to be almost flawless, what I really want them to do is focus on lore, writing, and settings, because that's where their modern games have felt a little weak compared to RPGs of yore.
I keep hearing rumors that they're going to do Elsweyr as their next setting and there's so much fantastical shit out there I'd love to see but I feel like if they ever do a game, they're going to cut down all of the lore so it's easier to make.
So it's good to hear they're not gonna rush it, at least
I hope the next game has all the provinces in it. The main quest takes you through several, and stays out of some but the point is you can just bugger off and go explore the continent. Possibly with some sort of time related quest consequences.
I kind of wish Bethesda would open another studio so they could handle both series at the same time. It just sucks when you get skyrim in 2011 and end up having to think "I might not see another TES for like fuckin' 7-8 years", or the same with Fallout 3.
I don't care where the next Elder Scrolls takes place, I just hope they actually add cooperative play instead of making it single player only. It's all I've ever wanted in an Elder Scrolls game.

Skyrim is just Oblivion 1.5 imo. It's not really too much different aside from graphical updates. It didn't really do anything notably better than Oblivion did and it was overall still a worse experience story wise than Shivering Isles, which is pretty much the peak of Oblivion's first party content. The only real things Bethesda needs to do is update that animation library, hire a team of actually competent writers for the main story and make more interesting dungeons than "oh look, the exact same cave of snow zombies.. again.. whoo.."
On the flip side if there's a new console generation between now and the new TES there might be even fewer limitations on what they can do.

There's already really few hardware based limitations. It's their shit engine that is very limiting.
It can only get better if they work on it longer, r-right ?
Hope you're ready for Hammerfel and High Rock :^)
It's not like they could even pull off a game in Elseywr or Black Marsh without fucking it over, and let's not forget you can't even enter black marsh unless you're an argonian.
Those settings would be better off with an Elder Scrolls Adventure game, linear single player focused on story, where as you can make the scenery as expansive and amazing as it's said to be without worrying about budget, because it's gonna be 90% skybox anyways.
At least we'll finally get a new engine when it finally comes then.....right?
I just hope they give TES 6 the work it deserves.
Whenever they get to it that is.

Game could take place a century in the future from Skyrim or something where that isn't the case.

1.5 would imply it was a better game but in reality they dumbed down a lot of features. From a modding perspective though Skyrim is way more sophisticated.

to be fair oblivion/skyrim maps are bigger than morrowind and unlike morrowind the NPCs are more dynamic in the sense that they have a schedule that they follow.
