• Basic video editing software (Freeware would be awesome.)

So I'm thinking about doing a let's play, it'll probably suck, but whatever. I'm in need of something that'll let me crop, speed up, stick text on, resize and compress video for uploading to youtube with ease. Ease of use being the main thing thing here, since I've got no experience with video, sound or image editing software.
Windows (live?) movie maker can do most of these things.
So it can, didn't even know anything like that came with Windows, sorry for the dumb question.
You can do most of that with virtualdub and avisynth. Both are free and very powerful. But both are daunting to new users. Plenty of tutorials around for them though.
