Naval combat with mount and blade gameplay would be fucking amazing.
I think this should just be a patch for Napoleonic Wars.
Having linebattles on land while ships fight on the sea.

can you imaging cannoning a ship from land
that would be so badass
Looks very interested, I might have to check this one out.
Knowing the M&B devteam, the sea enviroment and ship simulation will probably be really crap. I hope we don't just sail around on a flat water surface...
Sounds like it's Sid Meier's Pirates only with newer graphics.
Full screen image, since the site cut it off.

Well, if they're focusing on it I don't think it will be.
Sea was hardly the mainpoint in any mount&blade game.

And uhh, this is being made by the fire&sword team, not the team from the original game, as you can see in the article.
I suppose they're a small studio, but I wish their water effects looked a bit better than that flat texture. Also this is from the Fire and Steel people, not the real mount and blade people. That makes me lose a bit of hope.
Reminds me of that old yoshiboys pirates mod which was in M&B 0.751 or so.
That mod was amazing im pretty sure im buying this.
Fire and Sword was great I don't get why them making this is a bad thing.
Do you think they will follow the same method they used for travel in the older games but with boats this time around.
Or maybe they will use a system like they do in pirates of the burning sea when you go out into the ocean.
Similar sort of thing really.

I liked captain mode, a mode later done way better by Napoleonic Wars. That is about it. Everything else just felt like extreme mod quality, and the singleplayer was just Warband but with less to it. I'm interested to see how this turns out, but I'm just saying it feels like a project meant for a better team.
Yes this is what I wanted!

Fire & Sword was never supposed to be an expansion of Warband, it's supposed to be an expansion of the original Mount & Blade. It was also developed by another team, not Taleworlds.
What did you expect from WF&S? It does what it does right, and to me has much more than mod quality, despite the modding capability the games have and some of the mods that have been released.
It also doesn't have the same focus the original m&b and Warband have, of free-roaming and open gameplay without an end. WF&S is supposed to be story and quest driven, focused on trade and not as open ended.
People keep calling it a shit game, when it's all because they expect a different thing that they're already used to. The game is as good as the rest of M&B games.
i hope it plays like gmod pirate ship wars, that was great fun back in the day. being able to cannonball a ship to death and watch it sink pleases me muchly.

I played naval all the time before it got really shitty and cluttered with pointless rules making it not fun to play. + the server crashes all the time. But yeah it used to be really fun.
------
We need to see some gameplay as to how the ship controls work. I mean being a naval game the most important part is the ship control. For example.
Do you sail from third person like most other pirate themed sailing games.
Can you leave the wheel mid sea and walk around your ship and interact with it or during a battle.
Does wind have an effect on sailing speed like in Pirates of the burning sea.
There is so much we need to learn about how this game will play before we can pug any judgement into it really.
Well I lost all interest knowing it is from the Fire & Sword team.
There are way better modders then those guys.
I like mount and blades play style and I love naval combat so this should be the perfect mix for me. And yes I liked the mount and blade with fire and sword even if you did not.

Losing interest in a game without seeing any game play or how it is going to work because you don't like those guys is stupid. Only an idiot makes a decision that a game sucks without seeing how it works first.
Remember that all game makers make a shitty game from time to time. But I liked fire and sword so I don't think it is shitty.

What about call of duty games?
What about call of duty games?
COD has like 7 or 8 games now. You know that their next game will most likely be very much alike. But you can still never tell you just never know.
This group has not made countless mount and blade games all alike. Fire and sword may have been a dud for them. (if you consider f and s to be a bad game)
Awesome, Whenever i play mount and blade i always wish i could get into some naval combat. This could be great.
Brytenwalda had naval combat, but it was mostly boarding their ship or just sailing around in circles trying not to get murdered by archers.
Multilayer sounds interesting for a game like this.
If it ends up being a case of everyone being on the boat in real time then how is it decided who sails and who fires the guns. I can picture a big boat with lots of people on it and a person playing just to piss everyone off just starts sailing around randomly. Would really make the game un fun but who knows we don't know anything really about how the game will work.
I'd really like to see this naval combat work out nicely.
If anyone remembers this game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_%28video_game%29
I hope it plays like it, but better.
