are they the same thing? if my motherboard that I am going to get supports 1666 will 1600 work with it at it's full potential? the fastest DDR3 ram type that it supports is 1666 but newegg seems to not sell this type of ram so I am assuming that 1666 and 1600 are the same thing but i want to post here just to double check.
Just get 1333 if your motherboard supports it, you won't really need that fast ram unless you overclock.
oh cool, thanks
I've never heard of DDR3 1666, are you sure you didn't see 1866 MHz, because that is a "common" speed for DDR3
Just get 1333 if your motherboard supports it, you won't really need that fast ram unless you overclock.
most boards right now are only OC'ing the ram past 1600 (maybe1666), so it's optional to get this ram if the board states it doesn't need to overclock.
oh great, there are 3 types of DDR3 1333 ram and the motherboard's website nor the online manual tell me which type it's compatible with here's the board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128397

and now for something completely different, how loud is a 5770? if you mute a game such as TF2, can you hear your clock ticking in the room assuming everything else in your PC is silent?
obviously not, DDR3 1666 is 66MHz faster than DDR3-1600
