So I bought another moniter and was wondering if having two will make my graphics card run at a higher temperature? My graphics card is a NVIDIA gtx 460.
It's "Monitor" and the answer is no.

Alright sorry for the mis spell and thanks for the answer.
It's possible that it can be detrimental to your performance in some games. What are your other specs? If you have a sandy bridge (or ivy) processor, and a z68, H67, or H61 motherboard, you should be able to use the onboard and your discreet GPU at the same time, unless you're planning on running games on both monitors.
It won't clock down. It will idle hotter due to that fact.
Mine does clock down. Don't know about Nvidia, ATI is awesome for multiple monitors. :>

and so is nVidia. the 6xx series made vast improvements to compete against ATI in multi-monitor situations. before the 6xx you needed 2 cards to run more than 3 monitors.
My graphics card is only running a little higher then usually but im still idling at about 49-52C.

Every AMD/ATi card I've had didn't clock down the memory if you had two or more monitors. For my current card (6870), the result of that was about 10c increase in idle temp.
You will notice a higher idle temp. I'm currently using 2X GTX480's and they also down clock when idle'ing. Monitor 1 has my 2 monitors plugged in, and my 2nd is currently empty just sitting in SLI - there's about 10C difference.

that's not clocked down completely. at 51mhz gpu clock it is fully idle.
