Right now I have a pretty cool setup with my headset:
I use a Wireless Xbox 360 Controller along with a Wireless receiver. What's great about it is it becomes an audio device on my computer... which means I can tell Ventrilo to feed the voice audio directly into my headset.
That means when I'm playing games over my speakers, people can talk to me and I can hear it perfectly in my ear without disrupting my game audio. Which also means people can cuss all they want and my 4 yr old son (who loves to watch me play games) doesn't have to hear any of it.
My question is, is there any headset that can do this? A headset that can become an audio device? I'm guessing it would require a USB headset with some drivers+software... I really don't know.
Also, I don't want a full headset, I just want to use the one ear with mic like the Xbox one

I don't see anything in that thread related to my question.
You can set Ventrilo to use a specific audio source, and in Windows 7, headphones usually register as a separate device, so you can just set it so the audio is output only to the headphones.
