Ok so i have a static ip address, and i want to change it for different reasons. I have a linksys router, and metrocast isp. How should i do this
You can't. You could speak with your ISP though.
Turn off your router/modem overnight plug it back in the next morning
Ask your ISP or use a proxy

phone your ISP
Release. Clone router's MAC address. Renew. Reboot router. ??? Profit.
Aren't we out of IPv4 addresses anyhow?

That's very odd that your ISP makes you have a static IP. Most of the time you have to pay for something like that or be on a business plan.
Most Likely its leashed to him for a very long time, instead of the normal "pull power out and oh I forgot you".
My ISP leash my IP to me unless I'm unconnected for more than 28 days, at which point my IP is released back into the pool and when I reconnect I'm given the first available IP.
Turn off your router/modem overnight plug it back in the next morning
It's a static address, that will do nothing.
