I recently got a new computer so I never use the old one. It has an Intel Pentium D 2.8ghz processor, 2gb RAM and integrated graphics
Got any ideas on something cool I can do with it?
I'm thinking to use it as a media center or a server.
What do you guys recommend?
first take the dvd drive and the hard drive aot and then put them into your new computer
then blow the fucking thing up
host a server

Would host any source game server quite well.

that or throw it down a cliff

Okay, so what you have to do, Agentgamma, is give that computer to The Decoy so that he can use it to host a TF2 server that we can all play on and go outside the map and shit and randomizer decapitations ROCKET SHOTGUNS!

Or I could use it to host a randomizer rocket shotgun Mario kart server :3
Maybe...
Don't you like The Decoy though? :sigh:

Why do you hate The Decoy, Agentgamma? :crying:
pr0n, AND host a server
I'm in the same situation as the OP.
I have this old PC from the year 2001 or so. It's an eMachines prebuilt piece of shit I bought from Best Buy. I feel bad for calling it a piece of shit because that thing taught me everything I know about the internet during my teenage years. It still works very well.
It has some very old Intel processor at like 1.2Ghz or something smaller maybe. 256MB RAM (this is what really makes it almost useless now), Windows XP (the oldest version known, since I bought it just after XP came out), and a 40GB HDD.
How do I turn this bad boy into a server?
Depends on what you want to host
First off, install Linux.
Second off, get more ram.
Third off, get a bigger HDD
Submerge it in Baby Oil! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M80eUcUVrmw&hl=en_GB&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M80eUcUVrmw&hl=en_GB&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

in that order
We've had so many threads about this, either use it as a file server, have fun destroying it, or do what the above post said.

You don't need the embed code, just stick the URL in media tags,
Throw it at your neighbor and say happy birthday.

I'm so doing this!
That computer is not old at all to be honest.
I was expecting a PII computer from the '90s when I read the title.
Will it blend?
