• Need help picking a new motherboard

Okay so I'm upgrading to an i7 3770K processor and my old motherboard doesn't support that, so I need a new motherboard, but I have no idea what I should be looking for and what any of the specifications on the motherboards I can find actually mean. The i7 I'm getting uses the LGA 1155 socket, my PC has 4 gigs of RAM and my video card is an ATI Radeon HD 5770. It would be best if you could pick the motherboard from here: http://www.skytech.lt/pagrindines-plokstes-priedai-pagrindines-plokstes-c-86_85_826_248.html
Current sweetspot Z77 chipset motherboard that allows overclocking: Asrock Z77 extreme 4. http://www.skytech.lt/z77-extreme4-asrock-z77-extreme4-z77-ddr31600-4xsata3-raid-hdmi-gblan-atx-p-118542.html Is there any reason you are getting an i7-3770K over an i5-3570k? They perform equal in games.

Gigabyte UD3H or UD5H [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] Assuming of course your going with an ATX mother board UD3H http://www.skytech.lt/gaz77xud3h-z77-s1155-atxgaz77xud3h-gigabyte-p-120028.html UD5H http://www.skytech.lt/gaz77xud5h-gigabyte-gaz77xud5h-z77-dualddr31600-2xsata3-raid-hdmi-dvi-gblan-atx-p-119313.html [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] Also a Budget Converted to USD would be helpful
Again, anything cheaper than those? Maybe like, half the price of that first one? Or would that just mean it wouldn't be very good?
D3H http://www.skytech.lt/gah77d3h-h77-s1155-atxgah77d3h-gigabyte-p-118895.html
Just pick up any z75 or z77 motherboard since you're getting a k processor, so you can actually OC it. [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] http://www.skytech.lt/z75-pro3-asrock-z75-pro3-z75-dualddr31600-2xsata3-4xsata2-raid-hdmi-gblan-atx-p-119325.html if you need cheaper, you're going to lose the ability to overclock
Okay the prices on those 2 are good enough, is there any difference between those?
h77 can't overclock, z75 can h77 has intel smart response though, if you care, I think that's about it
I just noticed that both of those motherboards seem to support DDR3 RAM chips, the ones I have right now in my PC are DDR2, I'm guessing that those aren't gonna be compatible with the motherboard, right?

RAM is cheap though. Get 8 Gigs.
There is no 1155 compatible with ddr2. RAM is cheap though. Get 8 Gigs.
Okay I guess I'll go for that Z75 and upgrade my RAM too. I guess updating just your processor on a even slightly old-ish PC isn't so easy without upgrading everything else too. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] While at that, is there any difference between getting 1 8GB chip or 2 4GB chips? And what brand should I go for?
2 x 4 GB would be better for dual channel, and g.skill is a good brand that's usually cheap, if a name's recognizable it's usually good, like corsair or kingston
Okay I picked the cheapest set of 8GB RAM: http://www.skytech.lt/cmv8gx3m2a1600c11-ddr3-corsair-8gb-2x4gb-1600mhz-cl11-p-133579.html Should I worry about any of the other specifications or would that be totally enough?
While at that, is there any difference between getting 1 8GB chip or 2 4GB chips? And apparantly others do too, that might be an option.
There is no 1155 compatible with ddr2.
The LGA1155 architecture only has DDR3 to be more precise.

No they are utterly crap. I ordered 4 of them in the past, and 2 of them were faulty of which 1 had a clump of solder spread over multiple soldering points. These modules are very sloppy manufactured. For a buck or 3 more a module you can get trustworthy ones. Try to avoid this value range as much as you can.
