New build, not posting or displaying anything at all.

I built a computer for my friend's Grandpa because he was in desperate need of a new one. (His previous rig was a Pentium V.)
I assembled the computer and hooked it up and tried to start it. Then problems emerged.
What it does:
-All fans are spinning.
-Front panel LEDs are lit up and working.
-HDD is running.
What it doesn't do:
-Nothing shows up on the monitor.
-It doesn't post.
-I feel like there's no activity going on what so ever.
I've tried:
-Just one stick of RAM in different slots.
-Switching switching both sticks of RAM to the opposite slots.
-Resetting the BIOS.
-Trying the display through both DVI and VGA.
Specs:
AMD 240 Dual-core: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103688

Help please?
Thanks.
Note: I have installed stand offs, and I made sure to touch the chassis to get rid of my static charge before putting it together, but would there still be a chance that something might be shorting out?
rebuild it
rebuild it
just got done doing so. unplugged everything and plugged it all back in. Nothin' still. :saddowns:
Fidid you make sure the atx cable was in ;) also can that mobi support ddr3 ?
Make sure the 24 pin plug is ok
make sure the ram slots are clean and dust free
good luck

The motherboard supports DDR3.
It's all brand new so I'm not even gonna worry about dust right now.
If the 24-pin wasn't in I wouldn't be able to see the LEDs I see right now. Also, the optical mouse lights up when plugged it. So it's not that.
Anyone else have ideas? I really need to get this working tonight.
Take the CPU out and check for stray packaging materials in the pin slots. Own experience

A what?
Also, he didn't need a new computer. He just needed a nice reformat. Assuming you mean Pentium IV, that's actually still a good processor for the basic shit a grandfather does on his computer.
I mean, I honestly doubt he's playing Crysis on that thing, he didn't need an upgrade.

Also OP, my guess: your motherboard is dead. You're gonna have to RMA.

Haha, no. He needed a new computer. There was hardly anything on his old HDD. Besides, it's all paid for and done.
And yeah, sorry, I meant Pentium IV.
I'll save RMA for a last resort.
I bought like 6 things brand new that I have rma'd. Get used to it lol.

I don't care if I have to RMA.
Shit happens, I'm used to it.
That's life.

Unless it was one of the old 1.4 GHz Willamettes, then he didn't need a new one. It doesn't matter if there isn't much on his hard drive, Windows has a habit of fucking itself after 6 months to a year. He's probably never defragged, never run a registry cleaner, never emptied his reclycling bin, etc.

Actually, what he needed most was more RAM. He only had about 256MB for a 1.6GHz Pentium IV. It took me ten minutes to make this thread.
Besides, I didn't mind building a computer. I like to do it.
And he got a nice monitor + this computer is more up to date. So in the long run this one will last longer.
His main use for his computer was sorting through/maintaining pictures. I think he'll enjoy a newer PC.
But thanks for your advice, I think I'll RMA if no one else has any suggestions?
Check your VGA / DVI Cable.. Make sure its plugged in properly. Make sure power on Monitor is in correctly... Make sure no pins are broken on the VGA / DVI Cable :) If nothing... RMA.
did you check the 4pin cpu plug
did you check the 4pin cpu plug
Like I said in OP, all fans are spinning.
I got a little poetry for this one.
Ahem.
"If the 4-pin wasn't in, the fan wouldn't spin."
I think you may have bented one the CPU pins, I had a similar experience: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=850792

Similar, except for the fact that my motherboard doesn't even post. I'm gonna RMA the motherboard. If that doesn't work I'll RMA the CPU.
Thanks for the advice.

Mine didn't post either. I was stupid and didn't know that a sound meant it posted. I thought it posted it everything turns on >_>

The cpu wouldn't go in flat if a pin was bent.
The cpu wouldn't go in flat if a pin was bent.
Uh.... it did go in, and the heatsink was on. Getting a new CPU fixed it.

Well personally wouldn't you just notice a bent pin cause it wouldn't go in flat not saying it won't go in or the cpu cooler won't fit. It just wouldn't go in flat.

uh no there's a extra 4 pin for the cpu if I remember
