• Paypal account worth it?

So my buds birthday is coming up and I want to get him the alpha game Rimworld but the site only takes Paypal as a form of payment. I've heard that Paypal is a pain in the ass and is in general annoying. I've gone this far without an account with them but I know a lot of sites do require one in order to do business. My question is should I just bite the bullet and get one or is it better to just not have to deal with them until I absolutely have to?
i absolutely love paypal..literally two clicks to buy something
It is a great way to pay on sites which don't accept your credit cards, I'd say it is worth it. Never ahd a problem with it so far. But from what I hear, never use it for anything other than paying for stuff.
until google wallet is offered on more sites and is more widespread you'll definitely want to go paypal
I have had some horrible experiences with paypal, but if you don't make a lot of purchases in a short amount of time it won't get wonky on you.
I use paypal quite a bit, its pretty useful, although $3 did mysteriously disappear from it
I use paypal quite a bit, its pretty useful, although $3 did mysteriously disappear from it
was that the 3 bucks you paid me to draw a thing
Im a seller on ebay and I can tell you that its great for buying stuff. Ebay will ALWAYS back the buyer. Although ive never had a bad experience being a seller...
Just don't use it to sell stuff or store a big amount of money.
Doesn't paypal act as a type of middle-man for credit cards, though? Pretty sure the humble bundle handles debit/credit cards that way.
They're pretty reliable, just whatever you do, do not fuck up when giving them the last 4 digits of your SocSec number, I mistyped one digit and it fucked up EVERYTHING. It turned a 5 minute sign-up into one that took 4 days. Paypal is almost required if you're going to be importing stuff since it does currency conversion for you, but otherwise having one is just a matter of convenience.
Paypal is useful but a pain in the ass, unfortunately there's nothing like it as far as I know, that's massively accepted. Adding a bank account is a little trouble, if you don't use credit cards, and it seems they get hacked sub-often. In the past 3-5 years of owning a PayPal account, I've had my account jacked twice by cocksuckers. It's worth it in the long run, but it's a lot of trouble.
very convenient and safe imo. people only get pissed because they're so protective and secure about accounts and such
The only issues I've had were paypal just flat out not working, so I had to wait about 10 days to make a purchase. Other than that, it's alright.
It's fine for small purchases like Steam games and stuff, but I would never use it for large purchases or to make money.
I have a Paypal account but I hardly ever use it unless I have to. If you sign up, it's not like you have to use it, you can use it once and then forget about it.
Like was said before, don't use PayPal unless you absolutely have to. Also, don't leave any money on your account. PayPal is a pain in the ass, they've already closed two accounts I own with about $70 on it, and did not allow me to request it to be opened. They seem to pick accounts to close accounts at random.
Paypal is a fucking awful company, but if needed then use it, when you're paying for stuff like games it'll work just fine but imo if there's a good alternative then use it.
Why do you need to even open an account? I got rid of my PayPal account a while ago after learning how they were treating indie developers taking pre-orders through PayPal and charities (that were even selling items! - they were doing a 'pay what you want' scheme) having their account seized.
The only problem I've ever had, is that paypal takes FOREVER to back to you on anything. Even if you call them, you'll still wait around for an hour or so.
until google wallet is offered on more sites and is more widespread you'll definitely want to go paypal
Kid, it is shutting down. geddit ?
From my personal experience, PayPal works all fine and dandy when receiving and sending money between other PayPal users and merchants. On the other hand, when I tried to withdraw my money to a bank account, I had to try it three times with differently formatted bank account numbers because they hadn't migrated to SEPA in Europe (and they still haven't) and didn't give any guidelines at all how to withdraw money to IBAN account numbers. My money was in a limbo for about a month before I received anything. Add into that some "failed bank transfer" fees and it wasn't a pleasant experience at all.
Kid, it is shutting down. geddit ?
Except for the fact that it's not?
was that the 3 bucks you paid me to draw a thing
no, this was before
