seeing as politics are the face of facepunch now, let's find out your position on the political compass here https://www.politicalcompass.org/test. 6 pages of less than 10 questions each here's mine [editline]11th February 2017[/editline] would i be allowed to post this in GD? it'd probably make more sense

The occasional "where in the bottom left quadrant do you stand" political compass thread has popped up again, I see.

doesn't this specific compass have a bias/poor methodology that always places you further left? i remember hearing about it
Sure as hell buggered my attempt to put the little red dot right in the corner. Cba to photoshop it in.
you can edit the ec= and soc= on the image to put it wherever you want, like so:
doesn't this specific compass have a bias/poor methodology that always places you further left? i remember hearing about it
General rule of thumb is to get the dot move it one space to the right and two spaces up
doesn't this specific compass have a bias/poor methodology that always places you further left? i remember hearing about it
There are a few questions which are some very antiquated beliefs that young people anywhere on the compass probably don't believe in, like the astrology one.
doesn't this specific compass have a bias/poor methodology that always places you further left? i remember hearing about it
It's absolute shit, and you basically have to be an extreme "NOTHING PERSONNEL, KID" level edgelord to get significantly out of the left libertarian square. The questions that count towards authoritarianism and right wing ideology can, at times, basically amount to "I think war crimes are cool, and Hitler really wasn't that bad.". Some of the questions also lack a lot of context, so I wouldn't really be using it as a genuine judge of politics. I sent the test to a man who supports sterilizing those with major genetic deformities, mandatory religion, banning homosexuality and a single party state. This is what he got: Only slightly not libertarian my hairy arse.
There are a few questions which are some very antiquated beliefs that young people anywhere on the compass probably don't believe in, like the astrology one.
Besides, what even is the point of including a question about astrology in a political compass? How does it even influence a persons political beliefs? Also the classic "The rich are too highly taxed." How do you expect me to give an answer about this if I don't know which country we are talking about?
There are a few questions which are some very antiquated beliefs that young people anywhere on the compass probably don't believe in, like the astrology one.
And most of the questions are just poorly written and very leading. "if globalism is inevitable, it should primarily benefit humanity instead of multinational corporations." "I'd always support my country, right or wrong" "No one chooses their country of birth, so it's foolish to be proud of it" "Governments should penalize those who mislead the public" "A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system." And then there's a few just weird shit that they use to try to grep your political affiliation from that has no real basis. That's where the astrology question is from, and also things like "When you're down it's best to keep on with happier things ;')" Because of this even christian conservative forums that take the test pretty mostly wind up in the green square. If you also look at where they place historical figures you pretty quickly find that it's batshit crazy. I used to have another test I could link that was a little bit better but it no longer works. Anyways that was a lot of grain the kulaks were hoarding tbh (◕‿◕)
Pretty much spot on. Some of the questions were pretty shit though, wasn't there a better one of these kind of tests?
[t]https://www.politicalcompass.org/chart?ec=-7.38&soc=-5.69[/t] These past 2 years have made me go from center left lib to left lib.
tbh this quiz is really shitty, but here are my results: [t]http://i.imgur.com/DC8F00C.png[/t] serious ffs this shouldn't even be a question lol: "Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all."
serious ffs this shouldn't even be a question lol: "Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all."
I disagree, it is something that can help you hone in on someone's political leanings. Socially conservative people tend to be against abstract art in all forms. Just look at the most recent Paul Joseph Watson video where he attempts (poorly) to rip into abstract modern/post-modern art to say that it shows the decline of western civilization and that it gives terrorists an excuse to attack us. So nah, I think it definitely has a place.
[t]https://puu.sh/tX0E8/0ba7c5675c.jpg[/t] Interesting, I've always considered myself more left-leaning.

Might it be true that believing in astrology suggests you lean towards determinism and are more authoritarian? I dunno lol it sounds plausible. they certainly don't try to prove it anywhere on their website. I hear a lot of hatred of abstract art from left-leaning people as well. It could just generally be an art illiteracy problem, and people forgetting that most of any medium is garbage. Except for when some goofy guy decides he needs a conspiracy
