So, today i was browsing the web, as any other day, when my hand slipped on my trackpad and i accidentally clicked one of those annoying FLASHING AD BANNER LOL BUY DIS FOR [del]LONGER PEENUS.[/del] (Ad wasn't actually penis-related)
Now, these things can be malignant 'n' shit, so i hurried off the page. But I'm afraid it may have saved information of some kind on my computer, because now there's an icon in my top-menu-bar-thingy (Still new to OSX) that has never been there before. When clicked, it simply drops down a menu with only one option. "synchronize now". It doesn't say what it's gonna synchronize, i can't find out how to disable it, and actually clicking it does nothing.
The icon in question:

Okay, a quick look in console suggest it's apple related, and not some dodgy browser MMORPG trying to rob me and stuff. I'm still wondering what the hell it is, and what it does
It's iDisk synchronisation - Should only appear if you have setup MobileMe with iDisk.
Most random ads will only contain Windows' viruses. That could soon change though

Oh, so that's what it is :v: Explains why I've never seen it before. I haven't set up MobileMe though, doesn't it still cost money?

Yup still costs, Check The preferences for MobileMe - Can turn off the icon in there.
The icon also shows up when it's updating a time machine drive.

It already has changed, apple virus's are on the rise, and they're rising rapidly.

That's what comes with the tiny increase in popularity.

Virus makers didn't used to target macs because of the fact that there weren't nearly as many, and this caused apple to slack with the security, and make the system more vulnerable. Now that it's becoming more popular, people are using the security holes that OSX has, and they're using them to attack systems very effectively.
