Here's about what I have in mind after some googling: Case: Cheap ATX case Processor: Core i7-3770/3.40G/8M Tray LGA1155 77W Motherboard: ASROCK S1155 Z77 DDR3 SATA6 USB3 CMOS (Asrock z77 extreme 4) RAM: KINGSTON 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Non-ECC CL11 Power: CORSAIR Builder Series CX 600 Watt 80+ Hard drive: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 1TB 3.5" SATA3 7.2K 64MB DVD drive: SAMSUNG 24x8x12xDVD+RW SATA Bulk Black If I understood right the motherboard should have inbuilt network adapter and sound card. What I'd like to know if these parts are compatible and if there are better alternatives for any of them. My budget is 800€~ under which this setup falls. I already have a graphics card, a screen, a mouse, a keyboard and headphones. pls help
Is this for gaming? If so then get an i5 4670k and Msi z87 g45. Get 4x2 gigs of ram, dual channel is better.
cpubenchmark.net says that the i7 has a better benchmark and price/quality score. why is the i5 better?
cpubenchmark.net says that the i7 has a better benchmark and price/quality score. why is the i5 better?
i7 has Hyper-Threading. Meaning you have 8 threads instead of the 4. This is perfect for encoding (streaming, rendering yadi yadi). But does not really do anything in most games. Because it has to put aside something for the extra threads, you lose a very tiny bit of performance (people say). But yeah, i7 is NOT worth it if you're not using it.
ok thanks for the tips this cleared things up.
If you are overclocking get a hyper 212 evo; otherwise, downgrade to non-overclocking parts. There will be no performance loss, and a lot of money saved (4670 + H87/B85 motherboard). Also I believe Wilson23 meant to say 2 4GB modules of RAM rather than 4 2GB modules of RAM. With two modules you get the dual channel benefit he/she mentioned, which is a slight performance increase. Four modules doesn't give you anything unless you have Quad channel support motherboard (which you won't).
