I laid in bed, watched Q&A with Will Wright and Ocean Quigley I felt happiness, that life was fully completed because I soon have SimCity 5, the game of my life. Just sitting in your chair, feeling happiness, getting one with the game etc.
Why does this game cost so much?
Why does this game cost so much?
Doesn't cost more than any other game?
Doesn't cost more than any other game?
Amazon are charging £34.99 for it Origin is charging £64.99 or £44.99 for it PC games shouldn't cost that much, they usually only cost £29.99 I refuse to pay anything more than that for a PC game.

People in the SC5 thread bought via proxy to buy it much cheaper, so there's always that. I personally have no problem paying 50-60€ for game which they usually cost on Steam for the deluxe version etc. I can't say I find £30 to be much money.
Still not sure if I should get this or not. Release a demo please :v:
I'm already so disappointed with this game. The focus on multiplayer has, by the sounds of it, ruined it for me. Although I guess I'll have to wait for it to come out and hear what people say about before I can make a final verdict.

I personally can't wait to play in a city with someone other next to mine. You don't HAVE to play with other people.
What are your pros and cons?
Pro: I have a gift card that can buy it. Con: I bought Simcity 4 from steam for $5 or so some time ago, but it wasn't as fun as I thought I would have with a simcity game. Just give me a demo so I can see if I find it fun or not!
If my internet connection wasn't so shitty I'd think the multiplayer aspect was super cool, but for some reason I'm stuck on a satellite connection (the already limited capabilities of which the ISP has opted to limit even further so I don't use too much bandwidth (yeah right)) in the middle of a fucking town because I live on the one street that cable isn't supplied to.
Played the second beta when it came along and I got the chance to play it a day before the servers stopped. I'm impressed with what they had so far in that beta.

SC5 has so much more depth and even with smaller cities there's still so much more to do. More strategy, thinking etc. I think you would need to come up with better pro/cons to come to an conclusion :v:.
Hows that bad, like at all? I personally can't wait to play in a city with someone other next to mine. You don't HAVE to play online either.
They seem to have sacrificed so much of the fun of playing it on your own in order to make the multiplayer work. Tiny cities is just ridiculous. I'd be okay with it if it was an offshoot of Simcity but as the next iteration in the series it's essentially ripping out loads of what I loved about Simcity as a franchise. Edit: But as I said, I'll have to wait for its release to have my doubts confirmed or denied.

Not everyone wants to play alone. They give you both options. Even if the cities are smaller you can have multiple cities so I don't really mind.
You're always playing online. Whether or not people play with you is another question.
Oh yea, thanks for correcting me. I worded that wrongly. I meant that you don't have to play with other people if you don't want.
pro tip: if you want this game but you want it cheap buy a cd key instead $38.99
pro tip: if you want this game but you want it cheap buy a cd key instead $38.99
I would have done that but I want it right when it comes out instead of 5 days later.
The automatic serverside saving already ruins it for me. I'm the type that aims for perfection and doesn't want to be stressed out by not being able to experiment without costs (remember when you made your own very big city and removed all firefighter stations in an extra save just for fun?). I also imagine that a pseudo-realistic economy makes the whole thing unnecessarily complicated with a risk of being unbalanced, too. Ironically these things are exactly what will be removed in a pirated version. Hnnng, the advantages are too big with this one. Something that the developers could very simply avoid by implementing a Singleplayer mode that simulates an economy and allows clientside saving.

I will be fine with the tiny cities if we can create our own regions where we can place city lots however we want, so I can place 16 cities in a 4x4 square, creating a huge city subdivided into 16 districts.

I thinks it will be like that in retail?
I don't have internet... It's not fair! I can't even play Hitman and I got a physical copy, It required a 2GB download after installing from DVD! No way around, I checked. It's not an update, It actually needs to download 2GB to finish installing.

I.E. make your region private and don't involve yourself with global market stuff. The reason why the cities are small has nothing to do with multiplayer and everything to do with performance. They want this game to run good on a wide variety of hardware. Turns out, making everything simulated (sims/traffic/etc) requires a very beefy PC and might actually run somewhat unstable if you were to be able to have massive cities with all the simulation stuff going on. They expressed interest in patching in larger city sizes down the road, depending on if they can get it to not run extremely slow, to work balance wise over the net, and if it can be stable. Actually that's probably one other reason why there aren't super massive city sizes to choose from. It would mean people with low end PC's would have a serious "disadvantage" compaired to people with larger cities. I.E. imagine if you were playing a small city (as thats all you could run) in a public region along side a massive city. You'd basically be the bitch of the big city wither you'd want to or not. Personally I think that would make things more interesting, as long as they balanced it right. But they likely thought it would be easier, and be able to come out sooner, if they just kept the city size relatively equalized throughout the whole game and made up for it by making it so you can have many cities in the same region. Or they're delayed even further than that because of large amount of orders. I bought mine so I could get it March 5th.

Worst case scenario was BF3 where I got it late that day instead of early on when I ordered it.
I don't see how people can have anything against the multiplayer aspect of the game. That's literally the biggest seller for me, being able to play with your friends and manage cities together, I would gladly sacrifice city size in order to play that. Ocean quigly stated that they had to pick between a deep and rich simulation, or bigger city sizes that would be more demanding. Personally, I would pick the deeper and more complex simulation over a bigger city size.
Is it just me or is it kind of rediculous that a game developer thought representing every single redundant entity instead of abstracting is a good trade off for not being able to build a proper metropolis and all the fun that comes with that?
