I've got an HD and gfx card already (250 GTS) This is my plan, tell me what you all think: Casing http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164095 Supple power http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702010 Ramification http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161030 Mobotomy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128372 Pro-cessant http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037 $27 shipping [editline]04:59AM[/editline] I could have gone with an i5, but that requires ddr3 memory that puts me over 400 without shipping
I would go with AMD, do a build with a Regor processor. I had a $400 build figured out for a while that had a regor, a 4850, and 4gb of ddr3. You can do it, even without sacrificing on your case or PSU.

Everything in your list is more expensive than what I found except the proc, lol [editline]07:46AM[/editline] If I went with the PSU, ram, and case that I found, I could pay even less [editline]07:49AM[/editline] It's basically down to which is better, the Phenom II x2 or the E8400 [editline]07:54AM[/editline] e8400 is marginally faster than the phenom, going with the phenom. $70 saved! thanks!
gotta love the phenom x2 550's

Whoever told you that is a total dumbass. You can try to unlock the other two cores in your 550BE to make it a Quad-core. The case, PSU, and RAM you selected are much shittier than what I posted. And the RAM I chose went from $93 to $84 today, so even better deal on your part. Linkworld case is total crap, trust me, you're gonna want to spend the extra $10 to get the Cooler Master.
i don't care what the case looks like or anything, i just need something to hold my shit.
i don't care what the case looks like or anything, i just need something to hold my shit.
Linkworld is shit quality. [editline]11:32PM[/editline] It's like putting your PC in a case made of paper.
i don't care what the case looks like or anything, i just need something to hold my shit.
there's more to cases than looks airflow, build quality, features (toolless, remoavable shit etc.), just to name a few
there's more to cases than looks airflow, build quality, features (toolless, remoavable shit etc.), just to name a few
Agreed. It's very common misconception that cases have no other purpose than looks and to hold your shit.
i have duct tape, drills, and a blowtorch bring it
i ask for help and then ignore the good advice bring it
lol
I ordered it, it's on its way. Paid $324. thanks (: !
So you got the phenom? They are great CPU's. I have a 550 but unfortunately I can't unlock mine..
How come? I bought the Black Edition or something.
How come? I bought the Black Edition or something.
They don't always unlock. It's chance. When AMD has a large stock of quad-cores and need dual-cores or tri-cores fast, they disable one or two cores on the quad-core and label it as a dual-core. [editline]04:43PM[/editline] Not all of their dual-cores are disabled quads, that's where the chance part comes in.
AMD seems so more consumer-friendly and more human than Intel... that's why I love them
I recommend this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119203
