Ok, I have been looking for a simple av to vga adapter, nothing special just so I can play my snes/n64/gamecube in my room hooked up to my vga monitor. After a lot of searching this cable seems not to exist, I bought an adapter from amazon but when it arrived it turned out it was a vga to av, not av to vga. It didnt seem to work at all, I even tested it as a vga to av aswell, but it didnt work. So facepunch does ayone know where I can get this seemingly nonexistant cable?
Composite video uses NTSC signalling, while VGA is RGBHV. It isn't possible to have a passive adapter to convert NTSC to RGBHV, you'll need an active converter box of some sort. You'll need a device like this: http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Composite-Video-Adapter-Converter/dp/B001SJDESC But since it has a BNC connector instead of an RCA connector, you'll need to buy an adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-To-Go-02455-Adapter/dp/B0002J1I32/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_b Since your LCD screen is likely widescreen and doesn't have a native resolution of 640x480, the image you get is likely going to look very bad. It will be blurry or stretched out if your LCD screen doesn't have an option to run in letterbox mode.
Thanks a bunch, at least I know now, I have an old snes bnc wire that I can use, and I dont have a widescreen monitor, it can run 640x480, but I usualy have it at a higher resolution for my xbox. The only problem at the moment will be the lack of sound as my monitor doesnt have speakers
