Born Margaret Wiggum on March 23, 1919, in Chisolm, Minn., Margaret was 94 years old. Margaret's parents, Matt and Ingeborg Wiggum, met on the boat coming to America from Norway.
http://obits.oregonlive.com/obituaries/oregon/obituary.aspx?n=margaret-ruth-groening&pid=164683737#fbLoggedOut She does kinda look like Marge Simpson. And damn, 94. Quite a long life.
94 is pretty damn old. I can't imagine life at an age like that, my grandparents got pretty bad before they died, and it was for the best that they went on before things got even worse.
Oh my god, her maiden name was Wiggum. I knew Matt had gotten the Simpsons' names from his family, but the corrupt, lazy police officer seems like a weird choice.
His grandparents's last name was Wiggum. This explains everything. Still, hopefully she wasn't in a terrible state towards the end of her life.
I never realized that so many names came from Matt Groening's family, wow... missed that memo.

Decent innings.
My grand grand mother died recently at 96, so for that reason I am never quite amazed by ages like this
94 and peacefully through sleep One can only hope they go out the same way Nothing worse than drifting out of life only to get the shit shocked out of you in the hospital and then kept alive by machines in misery terrible
heh my great grandma died at age 101. nothing amazing btw i thought groening himself died (before i fully read the title)

if only they'd taken the simpsons instead
I wonder if he will do an episode for her before the Simpsons goes off the air.
I never realized that so many names came from Matt Groening's family, wow... missed that memo.
As I read it, I thought it was a joke because it just kept mentioning all the main Simpsons characters. I was out of the loop too.
My great grandfather died at 92 years old. He spent his last days mostly by surfing the web about articles of planets and space. He even brought his pc to the retirement home.
This is now a contest on how old and cool your grandparents were when they died
I wonder if he will do an episode for her before the Simpsons goes off the air.
I doubt it, considering that Fox has more control over the Simpsons than the writers do now.
I doubt it, considering that Fox has more control over the Simpsons than the writers do now.
Pretty sure any network would be more than happy to have the simpsons on their channel. Look at COPS. Fox kept fucking them over with preemption, so they moved networks starting next fall to Spike

Pretty good, a good laugh if your into laughing at idiots.
You mean COPS: Reloaded? It's already out. Pretty good, a good laugh if your into laughing at idiots.
no, i mean COPS. As in, the show from 1989.
I wonder if he will do an episode for her before the Simpsons goes off the air.
I don't think there is enough time for the animation, as the show is already coming to its last year.
So was his father Ralph?
Actually, his father was Homer.
I don't think there is enough time for the animation, as the show is already coming to its last year.
No it's not? There's another season already on contract, but they'll almost definitely renew it, since if they weren't I'd expect a huge publicity thing from FOX about it (there was a minor publicity thing when they were taking their time a year or two ago). Thinking the seasons they were renewed for already are all they've got would mean all of FOX's shows are also coming up on their last year.
That's the way I'd like to go. R.I.P to an amazing woman.
