What frame rate did you make it record in?
You can try recording to a separate drive from the one the game is running on.
Hey, i can ask the same thing. I have 4850 8Gb ddr2 ram E8400 Playing, lets say, team fortress 2. Have around 60-80 fps. Record in full size i gets 20-30. half size, 25-35 [editline]03:47PM[/editline] And yes, i am recording to a different hdd.
Just record to another hard drive than what from your game is running and it should work fine.
Any chance you pirated it? That's not the latest version. On-topic: Why would you want to record at 60 FPS when you only get around 20-30? Set it to 30 FPS and you'll be fine. The latest Fraps also has the option to disable the "Lock framerate" function. If you're getting 20-30 FPS, it means your computer can't handle recording at 60 FPS. This is how the latest version looks like. (Feast on this, PNG transparency lovers) And no, there's no better software recorder than Fraps.

If it's a source game, use source recorder
Frap's is pretty amazing when you can get it to work, and have a great PC otherwise stick to the source recorder
You can try recording to a separate drive from the one the game is running on.
This doesn't do jack shit. [editline]03:49PM[/editline] Fraps is amazing though. But it's more quality over performance. Which is good. Most of the time. When it comes to recording your multiplayer gameplay fraps would probably not be the best choice. Since it does, of course, lower you framerate.
I hear WeGame is fair. [editline]07:28PM[/editline] But yeah, if it's a Source game or other game with built in recording functions, use that.

[editline]06:46PM[/editline] And 100% free
I still love this old fella

the pic goes 404, i dont wanna bother reuploading
Speed of recording caps out at the max speed of the hard drive, even if it's a secondary drive. FRAPS will pull each frame from the frame buffer and write it to disk before pushing the frame out to the monitor, if your hard drive is slow to write this new frame, your FPS drops.
If you have a lot of RAM, Set up a RAMdisk and record to that.
