• Good Soft Overclocking Software for Intel CPU

Greetings I am looking for a soft overlclocking program that works with Intel processors. I have tried a few but none of them seem to work for me (eg. SetFSB, Intel Control Center) Cheers bs
CPU, chipset?
"Intel processors" Please excuse any incorrect terminology (I mix it up all the time) The exact processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
Doesn't your bios support OC'ing?
Well... Basically I'm lazy and I don't know if it will. So I just like using soft OC programs because they are quick and simple :)
It's not the same as graphics cards. The only thing you can really do is do it through the BIOS, or use a BSEL mod if that's not possible with your motherboard.
You can't be lazy and take shortcuts when it comes to overclocking.
Alright. Guess I had to learn sometime :P
"Intel processors" Please excuse any incorrect terminology (I mix it up all the time) The exact processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
I wouldn't bother trying to overclock it unless you have a 3rd party heatsink. Those LGA775 Intel coolers (especially the half height ones) start screaming and can't cool properly much past 65W.
I only plan to slightly overclock it. And I will ask there is a guide at Tom's Hardware that is specific to Core 2 Duo's.
Well, turns out my BIOS doesn't allow OC'ing...
Is it even a desktop computer you're using?
Are you using an OEM motherboard/prebuild?
Yeah. I am going to replace it asap. I made another thread about it: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1296568
If your motherboard doesn't allow OCing, your only option besides getting a new motherboard would be to do a BSEL mod. This involves taking out the CPU and taping over/connecting pin pads, so it's not exactly like soft overclocking though :v:
That's some dangerous territory. I once accidentally bent a pin on an AMD processor without realizing it until after I turned it on. :v: Grainy cellphone shots ahoy [t]http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m598/Awike1991/2013-01-11_08-34-27_473.jpg[/t] [t]http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m598/Awike1991/2013-01-11_08-29-38_449.jpg[/t]
