• Headset sound quality just dropped and there is no bass

So I was watching youtube when I heard a loud screech and next thing I know my headset sound was super low and has no bass at all. I tried jiggling the plugs and I got the sound volume back up by only plugging it in half-way. Though the quality and surround sound is shit and not there. Anyone have any idea if either my headset or my on-board sound just broke?
Damn...I don't have another PC.
I had a similar problem with my old headset. You can try soldering it if you find a loose connection (a good way to check is by playing music then wiggling the different wires around to see where the loose connection is)
So I broke it even more. No sound at all. I unplugged everything to switch to my older computer but turns out I don't know the password on that one and couldn't enter safe mode for some reason. So I plugged my current computer all back in and now no matter how I plug my headset in, there is no sound at all. :[
If its not a USB headset, try plugging it into an MP3 player. Only do it quickly though, the batteries were probably not designed to be used for large headset. Edited: People who rated dumb clearly do not understand why using headset would be a bad idea. Problem is they draw more current from the battery (because they have larger speakers), and could potentially damage the battery.

I plugged my ipod headphones into the computer and worked great.
How are you going to break your iPod with headphones.

Well its not really a gaming headset, but I have the Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 The sound quality is amazing, the bass is brilliant and its really cheap too.
Buy headphones, and a quality mic. Headsets always break.
