I recently tried to host a minecraft server, but today when I loaded it up and connected to it from an external address, my router crashed. So I tried an HTTP server which uses java, and crashed it again. I checked the internal log files, and I found this:
Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:21 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) T302Connection is broken Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:21 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DHCP:release Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DOD:192.168.0.142 query DNS for sjremetrics.java.com Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DOD:192.168.0.142 query DNS for sjremetrics.java.com Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DHCP:discover() Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DHCP:offer(174.3.224.1) Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DHCP:request(174.3.230.118) Sat Oct 16 2010 14:27:22 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time) DHCP:decline? Run these two tests to establish that the connections speed, ping and packet loss are normal: http://www.speedtest.net/ http://www.pingtest.net
