That was actually a really good article. If your not excited for Payday 2, then you might have some troubles. Hell, even im excited to rob banks and kill copious amounts of cops.
And this got me:
“I wasn’t happy with the direction of Battlefield 4. I wasn’t happy at the studio any more,” he says, shaking his head. “It was too big. I didn’t feel like we were doing anything interesting, in a real way. And you couldn’t do anything interesting in a real way, because there’s so much money riding on it.
Its all about the $$$
Payday 2 is shaping up to be a really nice sequel. Stoked for when they start the open beta with people who pre-ordered the criminal edition.

Payday 1 looks like a fucking toe-dip in the water by comparison. Payday 2 looks like a lovechild, and rightfully so. With the money and success of PD1, they finally had the time to improve and rework PD2 into something really unique.
Payday 1 could be summed up as crime-objective-driven L4D with cops instead of zombies.
Payday 2 could be summed up as some horrifyingly amazing amalgamation of Borderlands, Diablo, Splinter Cell, Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor that's centered around organized crime with copious amounts of customization.

Stop comparing Payday to L4D, there is barely any resemblance.

There's a lot of resemblance. Four player coop. Special infected to special police. Different classes of regular infected to different tiers of police officers. Zombie horde waves to police assaults. A mix of fetch-objectives like fuel cans in L4D or thermite cans in PAYDAY; and then waiting for transports/gates to open in L4D and drills/buzzsaws in PAYDAY.
I hope the second game is better. Even at $15 I feel like I didn't get enough enjoyment out of the first payday.

Also, that's the theme song for three games now (two different series.)
