So basically I am replacing my motherboard, cpu and ram, and just wanted to see if anyone had any advice or suggestions for what I chose for parts. The computer is 3-4 years old, and is currently: CPU - Core 2 Quad Core Q9550 + Stock Fan Mobo - Gigabyte EP43-UD3P PSU - Corsair TX750w GPU - Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 RAM - 4x2GB DDR2 800 80gb SSD + 2 other hard drives that amount to ~600gb Windows 7 64bit Used for games, photoshop, programming. Primarily I am replacing the CPU, and by extension having to switch to a newer motherboard that supports the right socket, and getting DDR3 RAM. Picked whichever ones had most good reviews on newegg and were in my budget ($400-500). Get the new series: The 3570K is a generation old. The new one is faster, uses less energy and is only like 10$ more expensive: i5-4670K For a compatible mobo I reccomend: MSI z87 g43. Alot of z87 mobo's in this priceclass are pretty much the same. This one sticks out a bit due to having better onboard sound.
